  3. Washut says UCLA is "loaded" this year. I'm not sure about that. Bilodeau is their best offensive player and they rely on him a lot on that end. We saw him last year in Sioux Falls. Pretty good player, but he didn't move the needle much for that Oregon State team. The interesting thing is all of their rotation players (minus Kyle, he won't be playing) were below average to decent players on pretty bad teams last year. Dailey (OK State), Johnson (USC), Clark (Louisville) and four UCLA returnees. Seems like the key to this Bruin team, rather than being loaded with talent, is they have total buy-in to Cronin's system and culture, which is very important for any Cronin team. They're a top 5 defense right now. They're going to try to keep us out of the lane and encourage us to shoot threes and long twos. Much like our defense. But they'll pressure our ball handlers so limiting turnovers is a must. I think it'll be a close game but I can see a version of this game being a 15 point win for either team, if the winning team happens to get hot and make 12+ threes. Bilodeau leads the team with 17 made threes. Nobody else has made more than 15. They've played 13 games. I'm glad we get them in Lincoln and don't have to go to Pauley Pavilion this year. Home court advantage will be big in this one. 68-62 Huskers.

  7. Norm has been an advocate for this change for a few years. I'm in agreement as well. Now, they need to get a grip on NIL money and transfer/portal rules.

  8. It's good for us to get older! You'll see more guys either go more Juco or D-II instead of rounding out D-1 rosters and then you'll get more transfers from those places.

  9. This is going to be a rock fight. Two good, physical, hard working defenses. Will the refs let 'em play?

  10. Would agree that they weren't very good. However, I did think, at the time, that they fell between "decent opponents" and "losing to Santa Barbara, LMU, and Austin Peay"... especially when two of them were at home. I do think Oregon St has the best chance to turn it around of the three-- which is good because we need that one to stay a Q2/Q1.

  11. That was the strangest run by a bad team I have ever seen.

  12. Good points. Would also say that it reinforced the need to have players willing to play defense and with great effort and not just rely on athletic "talent". Also - not trying to take anything away from Sam G. but I think the real additions that year that flipped the culture were Emanuel Bandoumel and Juwan Gary. We need to give them credit too.

  13. Though Bryce's year here went down the pooper rather quickly (losing to Western Illinois hurt), I still think he provided the spark we needed to be successful. I think Bryce's year her showed Fred that we weren't going to be able to compete on talent alone. I think it showed Fred that we're really going to have to recruit to a system. The following year we get Sammy G, we start playing hard nosed ball, beat CU at CU for the first of at least two consecutive trips, and finish 16-16. Then we make the dance last year and are on pace to make it again this year. Bryce's year here stunk, he was a really good player, but just a freshman who had to be "the man". The guys around him struggled to gel together. However, his year here, IMO, wasn't for naught. I believe his year changed the trajectory of our program BECAUSE of the struggles we saw with him here. We really had to change our philosophy after that.

  18. It’s too bad Bryce’s Team here never Showed Out until those last 3 Road Games, but at least Brad Davison’s Hot Tears on Senior Day helped soften those 10 Wins.

  20. Gavin's shot is 100% pure, that is for sure. Klay Thompson-esque. He's also 6'7" with fluid athleticism and his teammates love him. That's a guy that's worth being patient with if he's willing to stick with it. I'm guessing his postseason coaches evaluation meeting, where they imply a player should leave or stay, will go very different than Eli's did.

    Starting lineup

All I gotta say the summer between my freshman year and sophomore year in college met a nice girl that I started dating. Had to go back to my college not here in Lincoln so I could keep playing football. Kept up the long distance thing as my folks really liked her and brought her along to games. She is very smart, hot, compatible with me, which ain’t easy and we really do seem to be clinking. Well met a girl at the bar one night and start fooling around with her. Not great but available daily. So kind try to dump home town girl, and got new “girl friend”. Forget to tell mom and dad and next game she shows up with mom and dad. We have a long talk after the game and I realize this is the one. 45 years later, 40 married 3 boys and oh yeah she became a lawyer and does well there. So I almost screwed up the perfect thing for me. Hope Fred likes the starting lineup he is dating now and doesn’t change it just because you know he was thinking with the “wrong head”

  23. Another note about the game, my wife said she Berke’s whole ass at some point in the second half while he has tucking his shirt in. That guy always has a smile on his face and seems to be the “class clown” of the team if you will. Also dabs up the entire support staff whenever he comes off the court, after immediately getting coaching from Nate. He’s becoming my favorite personality on the team pretty quickly.

  25. Yes I can't argue with that :). Had not seen the box score before I posted and surprised by it because it felt to me that he missed more than he made last night - but numbers don't lie. Maybe I am just expecting them all to go in so I take more notice when they do not :).

  26. It's all Wake Forest. That 18% sharpshooter from deep is Parker Friedrichsen. We got Connor. Hunter Sallis is the other guard. Obviously, very good. Still, I'd take Brice. And Omaha Beliew is the third one. We got Berke. And we're better for it. And that's probably why we're Torvik top 30 and Wake is #104.
