Purdue pregame talk
Silverbacked1 and 2 others reacted to rwmctrofholz for a topic
Was hoping for a physical, quadruple OT game last night between Minnesota and Purdue to wear the Boilermakers down for Saturday. As a unrelated tangential point: While I like Colby Ridge, I miss the days when the popcorn was made on site and half a box of the buttery/salty goodness would make one's mouth numb and achy.3 points -

Just did a little comparison of our Michigan game thread in a close frustrating loss to our neighbors here in Omaha in a close frustrating loss against Georgetown thread. Their fan base considers us to be rednecks, dumber, less classy and many other things. We know better. We know who the better people are. Jesus Christ name used improperly. Creighton 4 Nebraska 0 Players directly bashed. Creighton 9 Nebraska 2 Obscene f fbombs and other vulgarity Creighton 9 Nebraska 2 Direct Coach bashing Creighton 16 Nebraska 0. Thanks for keeping things classy over here everyone. Our board is a great representation of our great state. Creighton board is a great representation of Creighton.2 points -
WBB: Game #20 vs Wisconsin

One thing that needs to be mentioned, is that Jess had a team leading 7 assists. An assist is worth two points so she scored 22 if you look at it that way, which I do. Most post don't get many assists.2 points -

Good win tonight! Wisconsin came in with the mindset they had to shut down Jessica. That plan would have worked but they forgot about Allie and how Natalie can shoot from way down town! It is so much fun to watch Natalie when she shoots the ball like she did tonight Good to have Rachel T back in the fold too. Call it growing pains or whatever but the Huskers have got to get better on the defensive end. Wisconsin drove the middle of the lane way too often for some nice uncontested 5-10 foot shots. Looked like Rachel Blackburn may have twisted her knee in the corner right before she went out for good in the 4th quarter. She started limping right away once it happened. Hope she didn’t hurt it any further as she gives us some good minutes off the bench for being only about 70% healthy. I thought Jessica looked a little fatiqued tonight at times, hence the reason she missed some shots that she normally makes. Hope the long season grind isn’t starting to catch up with her. Future Husker Hannah Whitish all the way from Wisconsin in the house tonight!!2 points -

Purdue pregame talk
HuskerFever reacted to Silverbacked1 for a topic
Okay for us really old guys do any of you remember the popcorn maker in the corner down by the court at the Colosseum? It would smell like popcorn for the whole game. Also that the concession stands where under the bleachers and that the pop came with a piece of plastic wrap rubber banded on top for a lid. Also stomping on the cups after the game to make that cool loud pop sound. Always head it on the post game shows.1 point -

I agree, there's nothing like the old school boxes of salty fake butter popcorn they had at the Bob. To carry it a step further, I kinda miss the hot dogs in the squished up Old Home white bread buns as opposed to the artisan buns they have at PBA.1 point -

I wouldn't necessarily argue; however, did you see Jerry Fort play? I voted Jerry over Strick because Fort more often than not carried the team. It was a close call, but Fort won out over Stick. I would argue Lue and Fort were the two best guards to roll through Lincoln up to this point.1 point -
Are we better on the road?
AuroranHusker reacted to hhcmatt for a topic
This makes it officially a blown out of proportions story line. Before we won at Rutgers we lost 13 road games in a row. How much simpler is it than we didn't close against a Northwestern team who's style we don't match up well against, played a good game against a Michigan St team who we do match up on, and then beat bad teams on the road and lost to good teams at home? Fact: We haven't lost on the road since I left my red sneakers in California. Is that something that should be added on?1 point -

Lol...just imagine how pissed off Creighton would be if/when we ever put together a team that can actually beat them at the time we play them and not some future date when we all say "if the team was playing this good when we played them we could beat them".1 point

uneblinstu's Post Game Chatter: Vol 8, Issue 21 - vs. Michigan
AuroranHusker reacted to royalfan for a topic
I'm certainly not the expert but I've seen a little basketball and I'm not sure what you saw to say we were badly out coached? I'm not saying we weren't but I'm curious to know what you saw that makes you say that. You can game plan for something but your scout team is not going to be able to duplicate what you see in the game at the speed it really happens. Sometimes there is a big gap between the gameplan and the player execution. Since I've not been to practice or meetings, I don't know enough to say one was more at fault than the other. We did seem to struggle adjusting to the post rim run throughout the game but I also think we made some good adjustments. What did you see that made you feel things were tipped drastically Michigan's way? They don't really do a lot of stuff, they just seem to do what they do very well. You don't necessarily have to have done a bad job of coaching to be outcoached. Michigan executed at an incredibly high level on both ends of the court. I am surprised you didn't notice. They didn't have more talent than we did. But we were having a tough time dealing with their switching everything defense. We didn't have the driving lanes we had been creating. What I saw was a team without elite talent finding open shots quite often, and back cuts quite often. They also played a great defensive game with a great defensive game plan. Not sure what you saw that would object to my take. No scout team is ever going to execute another game plan like their starters will so that is a little bit silly IMO. What I could get on board with is the term "badly." Perhaps, simply saying we got outcoached would be a little more accurate. I think that is a game we should have won. We didn't. I did think we gave effort, so there was a problem somewhere. To me it was in the X and O execution, and Michigan has one of the best coaches at accomplishing X and O execution. Miles wasn't the first and won't be the last to get outsmarted by him.1 point -

After the 1st qtr, when we had a big lead, Wisky was swapping baskets with us, and staying competitive. Connie must have been a little uncomfortable, and stayed with the starters. Jess had an off night, otherwise if she could have hit for average pts, it would have been a different game. But that was Wiskys plan....slow down Jess.1 point

There's a reason they didn't have Petteway on their list. He helped get Nebraska to the NCAA's but he's a Jaron Boone at best. He couldn't play a cohesive style with those other four guys you listed either. Strickland would fit better if you just want to build the best team.1 point -

It would really be a coup if we were able to land this kid at this point, with KU jumping in. And, according to Verbal Commits, he also has an offer from Louisville. Shoot. http://www.verbalcommits.com/players/deshawn-corprew YUGE coup if we land him along with Jordy. That's my goal, though. Land 'em both.1 point -

Safe assumption. I have been known to venture over to a couple other Husker Boards from time to time, and let me tell you it's downright embarrassing to see the level of "knowledge" over there. They may claim to be all Huskers to the Max, but let me just say that there seems to be a pretty decent reason for the whole low BBIQ stereotype that outside fanbases seem to have regarding Husker fans. It's kind of disappointing, but it is what it is I guess. Thank God for HHC.1 point -
