Hawaii was about the ugliest D1 team I’ve ever seen.

Learning to win in all situations is a very important skill, that’s why I don’t mind playing games like this. We are setting ourselves up to win some tough games we have no business in winning.

Our team is a lot closer to Iowa football that Brazilian football (soccer). We will play a lot of ugly games and win a lot of ugly games. That is fine with me, just win the games.

Huge opportunity on Christmas. Would be massive moving forward if we can win. The metrics might not care that much, but it will have a huge impact on our season if we can win.

A win is a win. A road win is even better. When is the last time we got 2 road wins in the non conference??? I honestly can’t remember too many times, it would almost mean we would have to win in Omaha and then a Gavitt Game or road win in the ACC challenge.
Oregon State is absolutely huge. I thought we had size, wow. Let’s kick their tails!!

Nice win in a tough environment to get a win.   Brice and Juwan dominated this game.   Hawaii had no one that could compete with them.   Also got good minutes from Meah.

Rematch on Christmas from last year's Sioux Falls game vs Oregon State.   Hope we can handle them as easily as we did last year.

Turns out Brice’s calm demeanor has just been a mature, hard working, all around quiet winner this entire time.  Ho hum 32. Kid is special.

My favorite play was near the end when Gary got switched on their quick little guard.  The kid drew JG into (what he thought were) deep waters, JG stayed with him step for step and sent his shit into the stands.  This was after his tip in over the trees and his clutch 3.  He ended the game about three times.

Meah is really figuring it out.  Berke didn’t score much but had 9rbs and 3 steals.

Defense was an absolute clinic despite the terrible officiating.

Morgan needs to wake up defensively.  Essegian needs to get on Sam’s S&C program.

Good defensive team win overall though.

That was a master class on defense and taking advantage of the opponent on the offensive end. It was a thing of beauty in every facet, despite the suboptimal opponent's inherent advantages. I loved how we essentially strangled Hawai'i and wouldn't let them come up for air. That type of effort will play well many nights in the Big Ten, now let's get a few more guys going offensively and become a real contender.

Win and advance.  Playing for the championship baby!!!

Good games from Brice and Juwan.  They played like sixth year players.  Well done.  I also thought Meah played a good game.  He looked more comfortable.   Berke struggled on the offensive end; but played good defense and rebounded well.

We have not played that well in either game of this tournament...yet we win.  Hmm.

    Notes from UNL

*-Nebraska picked up its first win at Hawai’i since 1976, snapping a five-game losing streak to the Rainbow Warriors. NU is now 3-7 all-time against Hawai’I with all 10 games in Honolulu.
*-Nebraska will play in its first MTE title game since the 2018 Hall of Fame Classic.
*-Brice Williams tied his career high with 32 points, matching his career high against UAB on March 4, 2023 when he was at Charlotte. His previous Nebraska high was 30 points against Indiana on Dec. 13. Williams now has two 30-point games this season and five for his career.
*-Juwan Gary finished with a season-high 21 points, topping his previous best of 19 vs. FDU. It marked his fourth career 20-point game.
*-Nebraska improves to 2-1 in true road games on the season with both wins coming by double figures.
*-Nebraska’s 15-0 run in the first half was the Huskers’ 10th double figure run of the season
*-Nebraska held Hawaii to a season-low 55 points, as its previous low was 67 vs. Hawai’I Pacific on Nov. 26
*-Nebraska had two players score 20+ points for the second time this year and first time since Nov. 27 against South Dakota.

I wish I were there, tbh. I watched it in NE with my son.
I was in the wrong thread. I thought you had posted that it was a great trip so far meaning that you were there.

2011 was the last time we won two non-conference road games (at USC, at TCU).  Those games were also the last time they won a true road game west of Lincoln.  It was also the year that got Doc fired.

Yeah, I figured that's what you were referencing. It looks like that would've been a great trip to be at, for sure!!

I just meant that it's been a great trip thus far for the team.... now time to cap it off with an NU title.

I loved how they kept showing Griffiths with a smile on his face after Gary would make a mockery of someone less than athletic than he is by the rim.  Sort of a I hope the gal I am interested in does not dig him or I am screwed type of look.

I agree with all on the poor officiating. When they called Juwan for a charge and the phantom push on Morgan on back to back possessions I felt like the home cookin' was gonna keep us from winning. Now beat the Beavers!!
