Navin R. Johnson Posted July 13, 2014 Report Posted July 13, 2014 He is around 6' 4" and played the 4 or 3 for South. Averaged about 7 pts and 5 boards a game. Very athletic, very good rebounder good in the high post suspect outside shooter but may have improved since the season. Quote
Vinny Posted July 14, 2014 Report Posted July 14, 2014 Nebraska was his first offer. I like it. I think we should be identifying local talent, and letting them know we have noticed them by being the first to offer. That's what the only show in the state should do. Quote
trickey Posted July 14, 2014 Report Posted July 14, 2014 Here is a little article from NE high school hoops that goes with the film posted above. http://nebraskahshoops.com/aguek-arop-a-look-at-the-high-rising-omaha-south-sophomore/ Quote
Huskerpapa Posted July 14, 2014 Report Posted July 14, 2014 It is also important to note that Omaha South is an up and coming program and I believe will soon derail Central as to the basketball school in Omaha...of course that is just my humble opinion. And oh yeah...their basketball coach is Bruce Chubick Sr...and perhaps Junior helps on occasion as well --- kind of nice to have a pretty strong NE tie to an up and coming program. throwback and Nebrasketballer 2 Quote
Swan88 Posted July 14, 2014 Report Posted July 14, 2014 My recollection from the end of last season on these younger players is this: 1. Tim Miles suggested that the best prospects in Nebraska are from the younger classes; 2. Some of these younger players were present at the Wisconsin game and expressed excitement about the Husker basketball program; and 3. Some if these younger players were on the sidelines at the football Spring Game like other recruits. Quote

There was an incredible level of excitement among Husker Nation in the Basketball program due to it's success as the season wore on. I had multiple friends who knew I had season tickets approach me to see if I would part with my tickets for parents or themselves. Some of people were even from out of state. So there is no doubt that any in-state talent had to be swept up with the excitement surrounding the program. That bodes well as we do have some legit talent coming up in the next few years. We just need that one nationally high ranked recruit to commit and sign to start attracting other highly ranked recruits to give us more than a passing look. Quote

Went from not being able to give away a pair of tickets walking up the ramp at Devaney to being able to sell tickets for 10X face value for the Wisconsin game. All in about a years time. Yes, the level of interest and excitement has escalated. Quote
Nebrasketballer Posted July 14, 2014 Report Posted July 14, 2014 From an email I got from someone that is pretty well connected: "His dad is about 6' 7" - 6' 8"...there is a huge Sudanese population here in Omaha that is playing basketball…he has another brother in 8th grade that is even better than he is..." You may want to read Robin's premium article on Aguek Arop before stepping out too far on this point -- it may depend on the definition of "in on." Quote

Insult me if'n u want, but I don't think Miles need to be the first to offer nobody. We should be better den dat. Quote

You were correct on Gesell I remembered it was his freshman year but his first, and only offer, came as an 8th grader and the rest came as a freshman. Agau didn't have any high major offers and again not until the start of his sophomore year. If you want to throw straw man arguments at the top 50 comment, Gesell was #87 and Agau was #89 so its not like they were garbage players. We will see in 3 years how stupid you or I look. My guess is you'll look as stupid as your grammar. jaimes2000, Cornhoopers, Nebrasketballer and 1 other 2 2 Quote
