TheKamdyMan Posted October 17, 2014 Report Posted October 17, 2014 He tweeted out a pic with Kenneth Faried tonight. Faried is listed at 6'8" and they look to be the same height so it gives us a good idea. Quote
Huskerpapa Posted October 29, 2014 Report Posted October 29, 2014 Michael Jacobson, a 6-foot-8 tight end, has committed to the University of Nebraska basketball program. Jacobson was a second-team Class 4A all-state selection as a junior, averaging 17.1 points and 9.7 rebounds, connecting on 81.4 percent of his free throw attempts. He is joining a Nebraska program that earned the Cornhuskers’ first NCAA Tournament trip since 1998 in a 19-13 season. Jacobson is the son of Dr. William Jacobson, a former multi-sport star at North High who was honored as The Journal’s first Metro Male Athlete of the Year in 1981. His cousin, Ben, who led East High to a state championship in 2002, enjoyed an outstanding college career at Northern Iowa and has continued to play professionally in Germany. http://siouxcityjournal.com/sports/high-school/football/east-tackles-no-waukee-in-playoff-opener/article_017efabe-af75-5d69-9ac2-f59d8aaf8f92.html Quote

hhcmatt Posted December 10, 2014 Report Posted December 10, 2014 DM Register Prep of the week http://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/news/local/community/2014/12/09/michael-jacobson-waukee-boys-basketball/20154523/ Relevant Q&A from the article You’ve accepted a scholarship offer to play at Nebraska. What did you like about the school? I really liked the coaching staff first and foremost. Coach Miles is a great guy and the whole staff seems to be really excited about the direction the program is heading. I also really liked the new facilities, and the opportunity to play in the Big Ten was special as well. What other schools did you consider? I considered UNI, Drake, Harvard and Princeton. What position do you expect to play at the next level? I expect to play the 3 or the 4. KarlHessEatMy.... 1 Quote
Swan88 Posted December 21, 2014 Report Posted December 21, 2014 Michael Jacobson had a good game tonight. His team lost to Omaha South, but he scored nearly half his team's points: AuroranHusker and hhcmatt 2 Quote

HuskerCager Posted January 8, 2015 Report Posted January 8, 2015 The more I read about this guy, the more I like him. He doesn't seem to get a lot of attention in Iowa. I wonder what would be said about him if he were playing HS ball on this side of the Missouri. Quote
Huskerpapa Posted January 20, 2015 Report Posted January 20, 2015 Not a great article, but it includes this mention of Michael: Waukee is 9-3, but that includes narrow out-of-state road setbacks of 70-65 to Apple Valley, 15-1 and ranked No. 2 in Minnesota (No. 17 nationally by Max Preps), and 56-52 to Omaha South, 10-2 and ranked No. 5 in Nebraska. We have a local interest in Waukee, I must tell you, because the Warriors are led by 6-8 senior forward Michael Jacobson, a Nebraska recruit whose father, Bill, now an orthopedic surgeon, was our first Metro Athlete of the Year as a senior at North in 1981. Michael averages 16.3 points and stretches defenses with his three-point shooting (16 of 42, .381). With 6-7 senior teammate Michael Nelson chipping in 14.4 points a game, this is a team with a potent 1-2 inside game. http://siouxcityjournal.com/sports/columnists/hersom/hersom-a-boys-hoops-runs-through-i-c-west/article_9f4dab2d-2d75-538c-8b94-e72cd274a952.html Quote
Norm Peterson Posted January 20, 2015 Report Posted January 20, 2015 At 38.1%, he'd be one of our leading 3-point shooters. hhcmatt 1 Quote
MandRHusker Posted January 20, 2015 Report Posted January 20, 2015 Looks like a project player who's strength is rebounding and shooting, not so much back to the basket. I think the staff is also hoping/thinking he will grow another 2". In one interview Coach Miles even talked about lack of leg hair with Mike! Quote

But remember, he is a very good athlete and smart as a whip. He could have played D I football as a tight end. So he likely has a bit of toughness built into that body as well. Quote
Fullbacksympathy Posted January 20, 2015 Report Posted January 20, 2015 Kid has plenty of skill. I think he'll see the court next year because of his frame. He'll probably be 230-240 by the time he arrives. AuroranHusker 1 Quote

I just chatted with him and he said he was really impressed with his midrange game and that he's quite crafty. Thinks he'll be a nice stretch-4, but he needs to get a lot stronger if he wants to finish around the rim in the B1G. Quote
Norm Peterson Posted February 11, 2015 Report Posted February 11, 2015 Me likey. Several things I see there look really good. Can't see it in motion just from that, but what you can see looks pretty good compared to most. His thumbs aren't quite at a "T" but left and right hands and elbows look to be about where you want them, doing what you want them to do. AuroranHusker 1 Quote

ShortDust Posted February 12, 2015 Report Posted February 12, 2015 It sounds like he's increased his motor recently as the game I watch you could tell he knew he was the best player on the court and was lazy. He also didn't hustle. I liked a lot about his game and he does have a good stroke. Norm you would approve! He does know how to rebound the ball.. When he didn't have the greatest of position he would tip the ball away from the defender and secure the rebound. He did get a "t" at the end of the game for arguing. He didn't play a minute after that as they were up 15 in 4th quarter. He also made a half court shot to end the 3rd and it was nothing but nylon. Idk how the competition is in Iowa, but I know it's plenty better than that here in Nebraska, besides a cpl of schools in Omaha. hhcmatt 1 Quote

I couldn't seem to find any on YouTube at least. I'm not talking highlight tapes but extended film of his games....anyone can look great in highlights but I love to watch recruits in games to get a real feel of their abilities. Quote
