Thought I would ask this here but am seeing a lot about getting tickets for next year at the Vault. This is for people who didn't have them this year correct?

I haven't gotten anything about renewing for next year ans then have been seeing things about some getting on lists.

And since I am too lazynto read anything, thought I would just ask here.;)

Thanks guys. This year and the road ahead are why I have kept my tickets for so long. So I could be there ever step of the waynto greatness that will be Husker Men's Basketball.

Wow guess it is a little early to be drinking.:

No it's not...it's 5:15 in London...cocktail hour!

Yep. No worriess for current session ticket holders.

Unless you want to upgrade. Then it'll be a scramble.

Really? Football season ticket holders were given the chance to upgrade when renewal notices came out. You think it will be different for basketball? They can't assign upgrades until they know who has renewed their season tickets and who hasn't.

I don't see a lot of upgrading going on in the coming years. There might be a few people who drop their tickets, but not too many. At Devaney the last several years they had plenty of wiggle room. Open space plus new people moving in and others moving out with the start of each season. And, with the donation structure and wording of wait list criteria, I don't think the ticket office can afford to do as much monkey business as they have in the past. Basically, people who had seats this year have them forever as long as they remember to renew and pay their donations on time if applicable.

Bottom line, if you're on the wait list, good luck. Might be a long haul if you're not very near the top. But, it will be interesting to see what happens with the $85 seats. Are they planning to raise ticket prices yet? When they do, they will raise all of them. There was the vague promise before last year where it was said that ticket prices wouldn't go up until there was a better product on the floor. Well...

Yeah...I'm waiting to see what happens to my dad and I with our tickets. We don't mind sitting where we are...because we are around people we have been around for almost 30 years. However...we aren't big fans of the rails so my dad sent to the AD and the ticket office a request to move down into the 100 section as he's contributed a sizable chuck of money to both football and men's and women's basketball over the years.  Again if we movie great...if not that's cool.  The response we got from the the AD himself was to let us know that they would do everything they can to get us moved down to the lower bowl. Guess we shall see.

I made my renewal donation. I have no interest in moving though, I'm right where I want to be. And for next year, I know I'll be there. But yeah, everything I've seen has been about trying to get on waiting lists or upgrade their seats. I know a couple of friends of mine are trying to do that. They're not overly optimistic about that happening considering the excitement around the team. I don't expect there to be much attrition this year.

I'm sure they won't...but it would be nice if they would put the ones that already have seats for a while and want to move up way ahead of any of the people that have never had seats or haven't for some time. long time ticket holders should get first crack at better seats and let the newbies just deal with what's left.

I think that student tickets went up $5, but I'm not entirely sure. Either stayed the same or went up $5

Anybody know much about the legality of selling tickets for more than face value ? I've done some lazy looking and haven't found much info.

It's fine. I won't pretend to be an expert but I do know that it's okay to do. Rules and laws vary from state to state. In some states, you're supposed to be a registered ticket broker to sell at higher than face value, but I imagine it's done anyway. Nebraska has no rules that I know of. You can post your tickets right on stubhub and sell them for whatever somebody is willing to pay. The University of Nebraska is even a partner of stubhub meaning they have an integrated ticketing system to make it easier to sell tickets to university events on StubHub. Online ticket sales have skyrocketed over the last few years and lots of brokers and private parties have taken advantage. Some professional sports franchises have even refused to renew season tickets to certain customers once they have found out that the season tickets were purchased and then the entire seasons worth of games was posted for sale on StubHub.

Keep in mind, StubHub has a disclaimer. They are only a ticket exchange/marketplace. That covers their liability and puts it on the consumer.

How do you go about requesting an upgrade in seats? Can you just call the ticket office, or do you need to stop by there in person to discuss it?

I know in our case my dad sent a nice email to the AD about mid season requesting an upgrade. No clue if we will get it.

The way to pretty much guarantee it is to significantly increase your donation to the athletic department.  If you are prepared to do that, I would call the Development Office of the department Now Husker Athletic Fund) and indicate you want to discuss increasing your donation with the idea of improving your seats.   If they don't have any seats  right now, they can put you on a list where you would be contacted first after renewals are processed next fall, and you would get a shot at non-renewed seats.

Other than that, you could call the ticket office and ask about the process.  Also, the renewal form allows for an upgrade request, although would doubt many upgrades are given from upper levels to lower bowl by just processing the form.  It's always worked best to go through an HAF officer (Mike Dobbs or Derek Freeman or Lindsay Freeman currently). Like most everything else in this world, money speaks.

Thanks Nighthawk. Yeah, it was something that I was meaning to do all season. Then the team caught fire towards the end of the year and I figured I probably waited too long to make my request as demand for tickets has sky rocketed. (Which I'm not complaining about at all. Just happy that I already have season tix and don't have to mess with the waiting list)

Does anyone know if the ticket office will be conducting the "Seat Yourself" season ticket improvement program for basketball, as they are for football right now? Essentially where you get to view other open season tickets and can choose to switch if you like. I certainly hope so, as I got stuck* with front row tickets in the 200 level and have to deal with the awful rail. It would be an improvement for me to go back a few rows.

* I wouldn't have used the word stuck when I was originally awarded these tickets. I was ecstatic. To go on a mini side-rant, San Antonio's arena used plexiglass in the upper level instead of a railing. Not sure why we didn't do the same.

You would think they could as that's what they have over at hay market park also.

FWIW, I spoke with a lady in the Ticket Office back in February about ticketing across multiple sports; and, she thought that the "Seat Yourself" process would likely be utilized in other sports the following year if everything goes well for the football ticket improvement process this year.
