Cookie Belcher Posted February 24, 2014 Report Posted February 24, 2014 Will be interesting to see how many brackets we make it into as all the sites on Bracketmatrix update their brackets. 25 of them were updated on either 2/22 or 2/23 and we were in 8 of those brackets. And that was before our win yesterday. Quote
royalfan Posted February 24, 2014 Report Posted February 24, 2014 Lunardi just tweeted out that Nebraska is now on "the next four out." Only about 6 teams ahead of us for being in the dance. My guess? We need to win out at home, split the two road games and win one in the Big 10 Tournament and we're in. I think it is a lock if we do that. I think there is a reasonably good chance with one less win than this as well. HuskerActuary 1 Quote
Cookie Belcher Posted February 24, 2014 Report Posted February 24, 2014 Latest update on Bracket Matrix has us in 18 bracket projections. We are even a 10 seed in one of them. Quote

Can somebody explain to me why it makes sense to do your current bracket by projecting out the rest of the games? I don't get it. So instead of just putting the field in place the way it stands at one instant, you are guessing on results. It makes almost no sense to have a 'first four out' and 'next four out' doing it this way. So instead of knowing (in all likelihood) how many teams are in front of you with better resumes, you only know what his guess is on how the season will turn out. Quote

This is according to rpiforecast but even if we lose out our expected RPI is only 80.3. Right now they're projecting we finish 2-2 with an expected RPI in the mid 50s. Even if we only get 1 more W down the stretch, we would finish in the mid 60s. Quote

Minnesota still has to play Michigan and Iowa. BjoeHusker 1 Quote
bball23 Posted February 24, 2014 Report Posted February 24, 2014 A guy on 1620 the zone got on and said that NU still has work to do because we don't have a lot of top 100 wins. Yet we are 6-7 in that category which is just as many wins as so many of these other teams. Illinois is #85 in the RPI so I really hope we can get this game Wednesday. Gives us another top 100 win as well as another road win. I know we are all biased, but it just seems we aren't getting much respect from the National guys to this point. This guy also said he see's us losing to Wisconsin at the end of the year. That will be a big one for us. Would be a great win over a top team late in the year. Whatever happens....this has been so fun!! Quote

Nebraska has come out of nowhere over the last month and there are a lot of 'experts' that still haven't studied up on the Nebraska NCAA tournament resume. You would think it would be simple enough to look but since they don't know, when asked the question they just spew standard answers like need some more wins, not enough big wins, too many losses, etc. They don't know. Gradually, this team is forcing more people to look. People will take notice. Just look at the bracketmatrix. Just last week we were in 1 bracket. Now somewhere in the neighborhood of 18 or so. The momentum is continuing to build and the experts will finally get it right. roscoe 1 Quote

A lot of people probably see the 5 game winning streak + win @ Michigan State and assume that is all we have on our resume. If they start digging a little deeper, they'll see that we look a lot better than quite a few teams they have ahead of us. At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter right now. We control our destiny. Unless we finish 1-3, I'm guessing we have a chance. Quote
Silverbacked1 Posted February 24, 2014 Report Posted February 24, 2014 NIT Bracketology has us a #1 seed playing San Francisco University and then Winner of Boise and Washington. Bottom part of the bracket is Fla. St/Louisiana Tech and Providence/Georgia. That would be a good back up plan. Quote
Timforthewin Posted February 24, 2014 Report Posted February 24, 2014 If this is being said about BYU I feel like the description fits us as well. I feel like the selection committee really looks at the last 10 game results more closely than some may think. Quote
