First of all, I am not trying to knock Akoy, but he averaged 12.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and blocked 81 shots as a senior.  To me, that is not dominating the competition.  He may be better then Patton.  I am just saying that D1 players don't dominate the games in Nebraska like some people are saying.  Maybe 12.8 points and 6.1 rebounds is considered dominating to some, but dominating to me would be much more.  I have seen Patton enough against good competition to know the kid can play.

He put up huge #s in big games. 20 and 9 against Oak Hill, triple double in the state title. He was dominate. Stats tend to get skewed when you play 1 quarter of a 80-20 boat race, which that central squad did to teams on a weekly basis.

I was just going to say something similar in that stats only tell one side of the story.  When it mattered, on a stacked team by Nebraska standards, he stepped up and carried the team.  If stats were the end all be all I'd just point to his AAU stats, which is why he blew up that summer and got the major offers he did because of his performances.

I agree that Akoy did step up in the big games and his stats are a bit misleading but you also have to say that Central was slowed down at times and for having arguably the most talented team in state bb history they did not totally dominate the state like some think.  Granted they did at state but before that they had a number of close games and even a couple losses to Nebraska teams.

This^ is my point.  Once again, I am not knocking Akoy.  You can't just look at the numbers and say someone is not worthy of a D1 scholarship because they didn't dominate in high school.  I am using Akoy as an example because everyone is familiar with him.  I wish he was a Husker.  In the same way, I wish Patton was going to be a Husker.  I have seen both of them play during the season and in the summer up close and personal.  Patton had a tremendous summer, and Creighton is not the only team that wanted him.  I know it is hard to make your point sometime through message boards, but people have completely taken my comments into a different direction.  Bottom line- Akoy was awesome, and will eventually contribute at one of the top programs in the nation.  In my opinion, Patton will be a very good D1 player.  Anyone that thinks I am a Creighton troll are completely wrong.

1.  Did you ever see Akoy play live?

2.  Only 81 blocked shots?  Thats about 3-4 a game right?  I guess Anthony Davis didn't dominate college basketball when he only averaged 14 points per game with 4 blocks per game.

For the sake of comparison, Justin Patton's stats as a Jr.

11.8 ppg

7.9 rpg

58 blocks- 2.5 per game.

What were Patton's numbers this summer?

Can't find any so far online. Here is a July 29 item from Rivals on him:

C Justin Patton (2015): Looking back at the month of July, there wasn't a more under utilized player than Patton. Teams have their system and his Omaha Crusaders team was very well coached and the weave they like to run is effective. However, the talented big man would have been a force if utilized more. Not saying that he will end up an NBA player, but there are a lot of guys making money the Association who looked like Patton as 16 and 17-year-olds. He can run, has tremendous size (with plenty of room to add weight) and looks to have good touch. Right now, Creighton is the clubhouse leader for biggest steal in 2015 recruiting by landing him before anybody else found out about him.

Seems Creighton got a good high upside player if looking at it logically.  Certainly not a lock to pan out, but high upside.  It is the old situation where he is a reach according the double douche and company if we got him, but awesome if they didLets be careful to not judge the same way as those freaks.

Boy, that is EXACTLY what they would say.

Fill me in on Logan strom?

I think he was a freshman last year for Norfolk on their State runner-up or semi-final team.  Tall kid as a 9th grader, somewhere around 6'8".  Scouting report says decent skills and solid athlete with potential to be an upper D1 level recruit.  Have to see how he develops.  Certainly has potential.

He looked pretty raw when I saw him, which was only for one game. There's skill there, but he's still developing. Nice touch. Big kid, though. Could be a real bruiser as he matures, which we haven't really had around here in a while.

Logan Strom was a 6'-5" player who averaged 13 ppg & 6 rpg as a FROSH.  I'd imagine he'll grow quite a bit in the next 3+ yrs. As an in-state recruit, we should be able to follow his skills' develop on a weekly basis in-season as he matures during H.S.
