Just made the trip back from Memphis and now I'm off to bigger an better things.... Updating the final standings for HHCC! Let's take a pause just to reflect on the great season this team had. I won't even be able to do full justice, but this team achieved the 2nd most wins in program history, punched its ticket very securely and not having to sweat it out during Selection Sunday, won against some opponents we've struggled with mightily since joining the Big Ten, defeated the #1 team in the nation, and put up some record shooting performances throughout the season. Sure, the team fell short from an NCAA tournament win. But this team will be hungry to get that win next time around. Let's just not have that elapse another 10 seasons. This team has proven in back-to-back seasons that we're a February team and we deserve to play against the best. That's two perfect weeks in a row. Prior to that, we didn't have a perfect week since December. Now the real test is coming: can we sweep another week? And if not, will we be able to get a win on the road or avoid a potential Q3 loss? We're starting to see some swapping in HHCC leaders this late in the season. Just like clockwork. Another home-and-away week. Another loss on the road and win at home. How is this so hard for people to predict this season (...says the one who's running this thing and not even in the Top 25)? We have a full week of rest ahead and just a home game before the next update. After that, we're looking at a couple more home-and-away stretches as we near the end of the season. This was the week of overtimes. Split the week with a win and a loss, not much different than the last month. On the positive side, we still don't have a longer losing streak than 2 this season. But can this team string together a perfect week? Time will tell. It's February. It's crunch time. Any, yet again, another split week. Home and away; a win and a loss. This season is starting to become more predictible (unlike my predictions this season). Bart Torvik dropped out of the Top 10, but Ken Pomeroy is holding some ground at the #9 spot. I have a feeling that the way we get those two out of the Top 10 is to have our basketball team produce some wins that weren't expected. It looks like we all have some more work to do this season.
