Not quite sure how to word this.  It will probably be one of my lengthier posts.  But, here goes:

Welcome to the cip farewell tour.  In the next few weeks, I'll be fading away from this forum.  Nothing bad, it's all really good, but I want to let everyone know why my involvement here will be sporadic, at best.

As some of you know, I grew up in Hampton.  Mrs. cip moved there when she was in high school.  We've been together for 23 years, and for some reason we've always had it in our hearts to get back to Hampton.  I'm a firm believer in Divine Providence, and we both agree God gave us that desire.  We were waiting on his timing.  Well, that timing finally came.

Sometime shortly after December 1st, we will be opening a restaurant and lounge in Hampton called Conlee's (our grandson's first name).  The doors that came flying open in a 7 day period for us to purchase the old Legion in Hampton are amazing.  I tell people to never give up on their dreams.  They will come true.  It takes faith. God has your back!

The reason I'm posting this is twofold.  First of all, I didn't want to disappear and leave everyone wondering what happened (ala Auroran---by the way, he hasn't posted for awhile...).  Secondly, and by far most importantly, I wanted to thank everyone for giving me much joy since Dave started this website.  It has given me the opportunity to meet a lot of people who I now consider friends.  You have also put up with my nonbasketball nonsense which makes up the majority of my posts.  Thank you for that.

Although I'll still be around for the next month, I wanted to let people know I won't be starting the game threads anymore.  That really was fun. :)   It's time to pass that torch.

I'm saddened I won't be much of a part of HHC just when the program is on such an upward trend.  However, I will stay in touch.  I'm only just a private message away.  With the new forum it's great that the messages go to my email account.  So, when you slackards want salsa, you can let me know.  ;)

Finally, I expect you guys to make an appearance at Conlee's.  Those of you who live west of Lincoln have no excuse not to show up.  We'll have plenty of TV's, plenty of adult beverages, and THE BEST steaks and burgers in this fine country of ours.

GO BIG RED!

You know there has to be a video.....

Best of luck with this next chapter in your life. I like your leap of faith. Remember, the waters of the Jordan did not part until the Isrealites set foot in the water. And no matter how it turns out, you will still be blessed. Where is Hampton? I guess I am more familiar with Northwest and North-Central Nebraska.

For those who don't know, Giltner and Bradshaw are suburbs of Hampton, right Cip?   In fact, Grand Island and York just sprouted out of nowhere as people working in Hampton moved into those areas so they didn't have to raise their kids in such a big city.

Cip, they do have the internet there, you know.  Good luck to both of you!

Good work, Cip.  In fact, I'm a little jealous.  Nothing is better than the 'ol hometown.  I will definitely roadtrip to dine at your place.  I may even bring a designated driver with me, so I can sample many of those adult beverages.  HB

cip, this is fantastic news!  I wish you nothing but the best and lots of success in your venture!

It's going to suck for the rest of us though, HHC won't quite be the same.  Hopefully, as time goes on, you'll be able to carve out at least a little of your time to shoot the breeze with us.  :)

I hope we'll keep in touch, cip. Always enjoy our banter, and your fresh approach to life. Best wishes on Conlee's - seems like a great adventure in the motherland!!  (BTW, since you brought my situation up, I've read HHC content all along.  Family takes precedence. Glad to be around more, hope you'll be able to hang out here on occasion B) )

Cip!  Sorry to see you go.  I'm kinda making the transition into self employment as well.  Good luck.  When you say Hampton, that's Virginia, right?

Nebraska, central Nebraska.  between York & Grand Island (and not far from my motherland, Aurora :D ).

Ah, one of those little towns I've never heard of.  That's not even far.  ;)

Good luck, Cip. I'll try and stop in next time I head west.

I'm just south of Giltner, so I'll be over on a Friday night to try out the PRIME RIB that is if you serve it. And I like wild rice with it. Good Luck in your new adventure. Now that you have a meeting place member we could have a get together at your place just a thought.

It's on Hwy 34 in the neighborhood of 60+ miles west of Lincoln...

Best of luck to you Cip! \ Grew up just down the road in between Hampton/Aurora. My family is still there. I'm sure I will be at your place trying it out pretty soon after it opens. I'm guessing their is a void in the market ever since the Korner closed.

Never fear, Cip.  I've always wanted to make Standhardinger jokes!

And Jimmy knows old music and can post the videos with his ebay.

HB has a dirty mind.

And Silverbacked likes steak.

So, we gotcha covered.

And, like someone else said, you might be surprised to find out that they have installed internet service out to rural Nebraska.  Yes, even in Hampton.  So, this whole "I'll be out in the boonies with no running water or cell phone reception or internet service" is not going to fly as an excuse for very long.

Good luck Cip.  I am a little confused on what owning a new venture has to do with checking in on this message board however?  You are a needed presence.  Are you still going to be venturing this way selling steaks etc?  I will be damn sure to check out your joint when I venture back to Aurora.  That doesn't happen very often since I don't have many ties back there anymore though.  Good reason to get back a bit more often.   Hope you find time for us once in a while   You would certainly be missed.  Was great to meet you.

We can accept that you may not post at a prolific rate,,,(only Norm can make it appear you have writer's block).

It is a question of balance in your life!

But you still have time to post as much as us peons in the posting world...

and I did check...they have access to youtube, even in Hampton, through this new internet thingy!

It's up to you!

Good luck on the restaurant...I bet you will even have salsa items on the menu...when I stop by, make mine EXTRA HOT.

Cip: I think P Diddy and Billy Joel hang out in Hampton (or maybe that is the Hamptons, come to think of it). At any rate, maybe we can arrange for a road trip once the place is up and going. I hope you plan to purchase one of those huge HDTV's as a tax writeoff as soon as you open the place. Should be just like going to the Pinnacle with added salsa. Best of luck in the endeavor.

Cip what great news, so happy for you,

Will bring the troop out sometime, after you get everything settled and have 3 new sides of beef to feed us.

We are kind of like the Vikings when we come to eat. Lots of food and drink and lots of laughter.

Can't wait.

And I know you'll be here when you can be.;)
