Fred said multiple times on the radio today we are playing in the postseason no matter what.

I imagine it's in the TV contract with FOX that B1G teams (and the Big East and Big XII) cannot turn down invitations to the Crown tournament. Same doesn't apply to individual players, who could choose to opt out, of course. I imagine if FOX is paying them a reasonable amount as part of the NIL for the tournament, though, most players will stick it out, absent someone leaving to start a pro career overseas.

With a year of film on our defense, B1G teams clearly have figured it out - not surprising considering the quality of coaching in this league. Adjustments have to be made to the defensive scheme for next season.

Ultimately, Iowa wasn't going to let Brice beat them. We just couldn't find enough buckets playing 4-on-3 (or 3.5) most of the game. Got nice help from Sam and Gary, but we really needed Essegian to be on today.

Essegian being 0-11 was a horrendous way to end his season. But what pissed me off more is that Connor could have passed it to Grace at the end for a potential bucket, yet Essegian cast up his 11th o-fer instead. Horrible stuff to end it. I couldn't have been more disgusted.

Yes, I had the exact same thought.  A complete and total lack of awareness.  Very disappointing.

Yeah, a very selfish move. Surprised by it, because I wouldn't have pegged Connor as the type. I'm guessing he was totally unaware of the situation, and thought we still had a chance even though it was obviously over. Just a microcosm of the season, in general: Not good enough.

Partly - but I think the bigger problem was the inability to pass.   Juwan broke open on cuts several times this game and we only threw it to him twice.   Once he stook under the basket all along jumping up and down while Sam just dibbled the ball on the perimeter.     The thing this team missed as much as anything was the ability to pass.   Wooster is average at best and pretty much everyone on the team would be a below-average passer.  (Morgan and Meah would both be WAY WAY WAY below average.)

Definitely this - Mast was so good directing the offense from the top (and Walker was pretty good, too) - I know I kind of took it for granted that the next guy would be able to do it too. Just not in their skill sets, definitely nowhere near Mast.

Ulis & Worster are not your traditional penetrate-and-find-the-open-guy point guards, either.

I have no idea if there needs to be a  significant increase in commitment to Nebraska NIL for us to be successful or not. Meaning I have no idea how competitive we actually are.

My gut feeling, based on absolutely nothing, is we are average to  slightly above average.

This season didn't feel like we were that far off. It felt like this was a oddly constructed team with weird pieces from the get go for me.

Do we really need to tweak things that much? I don't think we do. Seems like the problem this year is we overcompensated for last year.

Also it needs to be stated my optimism completely hinges Mast being back. If that changes you will immediately notice the tenor of my posts change to despair and gloom 😂

*This was supposed to be a response to @GhostOfJoeMcCray so this may seem kinda random 😉

Hugely disappointing finish to the season (at least all of it that matters).

Iowa decided they were not going to let Brice beat them - and all credit to a terrific effort by Juwan - out team did not step up.   FWIW Brice just never got untracked today either.    Other teams manage to focus their defense on our scorers - but we all too often seem to lose track of the other teams shooters - probably because of the constant switching in this system.  Iowa also recognized when those switches caused favorable matchups - the younger Sandfort going to the corner when Sam or Rollie were on him knowing they could not block his shot even if they go there in time.

Ultimately if Sam is taking 9 shots you know our offense isn't working and when Connor (our designated "shooter") goes 0-11 we are going to have a hard time beating anybody.

From a season perspective Brice and Juwan clearly deserved better support and I feel bad for them.   Two Husker greats in my opinion.  With the possible exception of Berke all of the transfers ended up being major disappointments.   We have to do a MUCH better job in the portal this year or next season is going to be very bleak.

The program has a trust issue...every year we get glowing reports from the media and staff of the incredible talent, growth, and camaraderie of the team. And then a 12-2 start gets us dreaming. Then we Nebrasketball the heck out of the season with our droughts, our inability to not foul or draw fouls, and the abundance of awkward opposing bench players having career night to counter any good plans we had.

I can't even say I am a "fan" anymore, it's more like going to a tragedy where there are some amazing performances, and moments of optimism, but by the third act all hope is dead.

That's why I get sick or seeing stories about how awesome our team will be.  They don't live up to the hype.

Is there anyway to know if this is true? I've never thought about it before. If the team makes a post-season tournament players wil receive a bonus for playing. Might convince some kids from opting out of the post-season or jumping to the portal right away.

It would be idiotic to fire hoiberg. Do not let two bad games against Minnesota and Iowa to end the year make us go nuclear.

We needed more shooters. It’s impossible for us when we have 3 guys out on the court who can’t shoot from outside the cylinder.

Rest assured, even if we wanted to, we couldn’t - AD has a number of large projects and burning 18M on buyout isn’t an option.

Sadly, my gut says we’re having this conversation for real next offseason.
