I just keep thinking back to that f’n 3 they hit before half and then Brice missing the FT that would have put us up 1 at end of regulation. Ugghh. Can’t sleep. So close and we definitely deserved to win that one.

Yeah, those were killers and will get lost in the conversation, at least tonight.  So many little plays.  Too many defensive breakdowns and too many times where we didn't put a body on someone trying to block out.  The one play that sticks with me is late in the second half, Connor tried to go under a screen and left Parrish uncontested for a three that he buried.  Your taught never to go under screens when guarding shooters.  Just a needless mental breakdown and probably from fatigue.  So many what ifs in this game and in so many this year.  I think I have hit sadness in the grief cycle.

And Parrish had to make it which is not a terribly likely thing.  They made every huge shot when we had a great shot to win if missed

Quick notes from UNL

*-Brice Williams’ 43-point effort broke Nebraska’s single-game scoring record. The previous mark was 42 by Eric Piatkowski against Oklahoma in the 1994 Big Eight Tournament. It was also a Value City Arena record.
*-Williams’ 43-point effort was his sixth career 30-point game. His previous high was 32 on two occasions.

*-It was the first 40-point game by a Husker since Teddy Allen in 2021.

*-Tonight was Nebraska’s first multi-overtime game since the 2021-22 season (4 OT at NC State). Nebraska is now 1-2 in overtime games this season.

Quick notes from me

  • Brice Williams now with 1,068 career points as a Husker, moving him past Herschell Turner into 31st all-time.  He is just 6 points behind Keisei Tominaga.
  • Brice Williams (43) and Juwan Gary (24) broke the school record for total points by two players (67) Previous record was 65 by Eric Piatkowski (42) and Bruce Chubick (23)
  • The 230 combined points by both team ties the school record
  • The 114 points by Nebraska tonight tied the record for the 5th most in school history. The school record is 117.
  • Brice Williams tied the school record of Marvin Stewart and Teddy Allen with 16 made FGs in a game

Brice now leads the Big Ten in scoring and is 12th in the country. Has been doing it on less field goal attempts per game than all the players in front of him on that list.

Imagine how many one-score games we could have won if he took more FG attempts in those games. Thin margins.

So much heartbreak this year. But unlike some previous losses, this heartbreak wasn't due to lack of effort or toughness. Wasn't due to not being locked in. Wasn't due to being completely inept offensively. No moral victories, but you can be proud of the team after a game like that. So many things that didn't go our way, but they fought like hell regardless.

Nebraska shot a slightly higher percentage from the field and from three than Ohio State. Outrebounded Ohio State despite them having long, athletic former 5-star talent. Brice had a historic offensive day. Juwan, Connor and Morgan all played up to their ability. Uhlis, Worster and Sam chipped in with some points, too. Nebraska coaching >> Ohio State coaching. Ohio State made 32 free throws and that's the difference.

Everything just looks better and feels better when shots are going in. It needs to be the focus of constructing a Hoiberg roster. This version of Nebraska can win some games in the Big Ten tournament.

I kept my vow to miss this game for the presidential speech and didn't find out the outcome until this morning. Fortunately for my health, I traded a sleepless night for an early bedtime. Just sorry I missed Brice's performance. If he doesn't make first team in the Big 10, then our suspicion that there is an anti-Nebraska bias will be merited.

Just a knife in the heart loss in so many ways.

The boys showed great effort and fight.

Like Husker football, this team has no idea how to win close games.

We were up 5 in OT with 2 minutes left.

You can't give up that lead on the road.

We couldn't get the key stop defensively when we needed it.

Why on earth are we leaving Thorton and Mobely wide open ?

I feel so bad for Brice and Juwan.

I love everyone complaining about the guy moving on the sideline. 1. You can, and live it’s very tough to determine exactly how far he did go. 2. We still woulda had to hit a three then do another OT.

He moved an egregious amount.  This isn't 'Nam, this is basketball. There are rules.

Its sad that we need that effort from Brice to even be in that game last night.  This team has no real 3rd option threat.  So many games this year St Marys, Iowa, Maryland x2, USC, Rutgers, and last night that could be so much different if this roster was constructed better and had a 3rd or 4th consistant option.

He moved a considerable amount. Considering the ref was right next to him and that's his job, yeah there's a reason to be upset.

So all the sports writers that watch Godly amount of basketball are wrong as well.

He moved like he was running the baseline on a made basket.

I’m not saying it wasn’t a bad no call. But especially given his position that’s a tough angle. Almost wonder if it shoulda been another refs call.

But it’s missing the whole point. We aren’t getting screwed. We suck because we have shit talent evaluators and terrible roster management. Combined with poor NIL/1890 support.

Add in some coaching malpractice I’ve discussed, and this is what you get.

I dunno, I think both things can be true. Maybe the season was doomed from the jump, AND bad calls that go against Nebraska impact the results of individual games.

Living in the space where we got robbed of this game but it was all the other games we pissed away that are going to keep us out of the tourney

I'd rather point the finger than the thumb - it's emotionally much more convenient but your point is well taken!
