It'll be interesting to see how he turns out. I think I kept pretty quiet about my thought on Rice. I liked his shooting. I thought he was the kind of guy who didn't seem to be phased at all if others on the team were struggling. But what jason said about him above has been my take, too. He just lacks that fluid athleticism. He  might be straight-line fast, but he's not change-of-direction quick. I don't see him doing spin dribbles into the lane to get to the rack like some of the aTm players did  against us. But he's a good shooter. I think he's solid. I think he could have had a role here. But I think he has a ceiling that isn't much higher than CJ Wilcher's of it's higher at all.

A lot of people on this board are over analyzing one loss to a red-hot Texas A&M team.

Seeing Ward Taylor IV shoot 5 for 26 in their 2nd game, and yet the Ags still went to OT vs #1 Houston was even more impressive, tbh.

Let me just say, in fairness to Eli, I think he'll end up being a good player somewhere. But it's probably sort of like what @basketballjones observed a couple of years ago about Teddy Allen. Good player, but maybe not quite good enough to be the best player on a good team. Ironically, Teddy ended up being the best player on a good team. His game just didn't jive with being the best player on a Hoiberg team that had any chance of being good. And I get the same feeling about Eli. He might end up being a really good player for someone else. And I wish him the best.

By the way, Indiana needs to build a roster and so does Michigan.

I blame RED WAY, from just outside Nashville and was pretty easy for him to catch a flight out of Lincoln to Nashville back when Red Way was available.

ik this is mostly a joke, but not having flights here has to be a negative for recruiting.

Rice was playable so I think that's why a lot of people and probably the staff thought he'd be back. However, he likely wasn't starting and we're bringing in more dudes.  Likely just run of the mill looking for more playing time.

i would have projected him to start at the 3 with gary at the 4, but i also don't know what other transfers we are bringing in.

The staff has known for a while that he wouldn’t be coming back

Don’t tell me they found out right before he hurt his ankle.

When the team was leaving the Sheraton for FedEx Forum, all of the guys who have left were not featured, at all. They staggered the roster leaving so they could legitimately film for a documentary or somethin'.... it was very noticeable that all of the 4 players who are in the portal were in no way, shape, or form to be shown on the "tape." It was glaring that guys like Eli & even C.J. were not with the rest of the rotation pieces on the walk outta the hotel. I didn't want to make much of it at the time, because we had a game to play, but I did note the disparity for future reference. Nothing changes based on that, it's just interesting to note...
