as it stands 4 of our top 6 guys from a 23 win team are returning. if we lose any of those top 4 it starts getting dicey.

I feel the order of diceyness is

1(a) - Brice

1(b) - Mast

3 - Lawrence

4- Gary

Five of our top 8. The only rotation player to portal was a non-starter.

We honestly wouldn't have to do a ton in the portal to improve our standing. At this point, Brice probably slides back to his 3 spot, Gary to the 4, Jamarques re-enters the starting rotation at the 2, and Ulis probably starts at point.

Land that trio of Bellevue West guys, though, and I would feel pretty good about things, provided we keep those other five guys.

Wow that is a surprise.   Not sure why he would have not liked Wisconsin although for whatever reason I could not figure out he spent alot of time on the bench during their NCAA tournament game debacle.    At times he seemed to look for his own shot a bit too much but this kid has tons of talent - without him WIsconsin would have had very little offense this season.

He's had one foot out the door for a month

Word on the street is that two of them are staying-with or going-to Wisconsin.  I've heard no street word on the third.

So . . . we had the same discussion a year ago about Chucky.  Who thinks there is even a remote chance of Chucky (or another Bellevue West grad) coming to Nebraska this second time around?

As to the two in the portal, they are both excellent players, and we'd love to have them.  But if they don't want to come here (or if they aren't our highest priorities), there are other excellent players available.

Further, it's amazing to me that a Nebraska player would go to another B1G school, instead of wanting to be the next Sam Griesel or Josiah Allick--with all the love and notoriety they have achieved across the entire state and its loyal fans.

AJ Storr in the portal might change that... Maybe Chucky (finally) has had enough. You have to imagine the thought has at least crossed his mind that he could be the local hero to get Nebraska its first NCAA Tournament win.

Two more Minnesota departures - Braeden Carrington and Isaiah Ihnen. Pretty surprised by all this, to be honest. It seemed like those players liked playing for Johnson.  They could've returned 8 of their 9 rotation guys but now 4 of them have decided to go portaling.

Including some big ones.  Ouch for Ben.

Yeah I can't say I noticed any contention between Chucky and Storr this year. If anything, things were a lot more difficult offensively for Chucky when Storr was not on the court. The only obvious contention the past couple years has been between Chucky and Gard. I don't know if Chucky is truly interested in playing for Nebraska but I'm pretty shocked that he's still in Madison. He has the vision and IQ to lead the Big Ten in assists but not in that offense.

I meant he has had enough in the sense that Storr is leaving and Chucky liked Storr and needed Storr and without him they are in trouble. I didn't mean to imply there was tension between them. The opposite actually. Storr leaving Gard might give Chucky the final straw to do the same. I hope so at least. He could come here and lead the program to a dream season. Fidler and Kyle can join along.

Or they can all go to UW, play for a coach that all their fans want fired and top players seemingly don't enjoy playing for. Whatever.

Oh yeah I got what you were saying. Poorly worded post on my part, but we're on the same page and I was just kind of adding to your point.

Let's also keep in mind people enter the portal just to check their market value sometimes.

Gard has done just decent enough to keep his job quite often at Wisconsin ... it's almost to a point they'd almost like to see him have a bad year just to have it over with it seems. I don't know that his job is safe right now as it is ...

It's getting more and more difficult for me to care as much with all the changes ... not to sound like the almost 50 year old guy and gripe, but it's just what I'm feeling.

I'm with you. The roster chaos has really gotten to me. If we'd gone 10-23 this year and Fred got fired, I'm not sure I could handle another rebuild. Might have just put the burner on low and watched casually.

The future looks bright for the Spurs though!

On some level each year is a rebuild for everyone. Gotta hope to have a core that stays, but even if they're happy where they're at that's not any guarantee anymore. :(

I don't think anybody saw this one coming....

...oh, wait.  Everybody saw this coming.

Some Creighton fans legitimately thought he was going to transfer to Creighton. Said it was his dream school...

It was when he was younger and when his Dad coached there. I am really interested to see how he does stepping up a level. Great shooter, good size, great hoops IQ but pretty slow footed.

I like Carrington.
