It depends how early in the game our head coach gets called for a technical.

Or if KT misses his first 3.  If I remember correctly Walt P for 3 missed that first one and it was kind of a downer.  In all of our big games, it always seemed he hit his first 3... usually from a corner or wing.

The only matchup I’ve seen that I wouldn’t feel good about is Clemson. But they seem to be climbing towards a 4/5 seed now.

I wouldn’t want to face Kentucky or Florida. Kentucky at their best could win the title. And Florida has been playing better than their side line the last month. I’m rooting for both to improve to a 5 seed so we can avoid them.

Could regret this later… but give me any Mountain West team right now.  I think the conference is over-hyped.

That’s how I feel about the Big 12. Houston and Iowa State are for real. Outside of that, not impressed. Oklahoma looks like garbage every time I see them on tv. Baylor got absolutely manhandled by Michigan State. TCU, Texas Tech, Cinci, BYU. All overrated says the eye test.

The only time I’ve seen Florida this year was their game against Michigan. And they looked, well, about as good as Michigan. They’re apparently playing very well now though.

If my options are:

1. Play in Omaha against a 7 seed who should be a 4 seed

2. Play any other location against a 7, 8 or 9 seed that is perceivably not very good.

Id take the Omaha game 100% of the time.

No doubt about that. I will say bracketologists are pretty good at predicting the field, usually getting a couple wrong. But they are rarely good at predicting seeds, matchups, and locations. No reason to get excited about anyone putting us in Omaha. It’s a complete guess.

Yep… most bracketologists go by how many they got correct IN THE FIELD and not seeding.

Honestly, looking at our metrics, should we win what we should, we might be a sneaky higher seed than some are predicting.

Just a random post and didnt know where to post it.  I worry very much about how offenses attack in all of these other leagues.  They dont go through the post as much.  We(and other big 10 teams) need to be able to defend the pick and roll actions extremely well. I think that is why the Big 10 struggles recently in the dance.  It is a hard adjustment to make.  All of these teams seem toi have a lot better point guards in general than we see in our league. I am very concerned that we are athletic enough to deal with such things.

And it is why matchups in the Big Dance are likely more important than seeding/location. If NU can draw a Mtn. West team, for instance, I'd feel a lot better than a SEC team, for instance. Let's see how all this plays out in about a month. GBR

I think it’s a combination of this as well as the pace of play and way games are called in the B1G. I feel like the B1G calls fouls for too many things and it drags games out, and a lot of times calling stuff that’s just flat out not a foul (Purdue especially). Just a lot of anticipated foul whistle blowing rather than an actual foul. They all get used to playing that way for 3 months then get to the tourney and get some refs where nothings being called and it’s tough to adjust to.

It’s the reason I think all Purdue needs to do is run into the ref crew that isn’t calling fouls on Edey and is letting guards get into their guards and it could be trouble.  Being the darling of the conference they’ve been getting every call in league since December.

Few probably play a D quite like ours though.

I have to push back on this part. There are a few great point guards out there, but just a few. Point guard play is pretty poor throughout college basketball imo. The Big Ten has 3 of the top 7 or 8 point guards in the country in Braden Smith, Boo Buie and Jahmir Young. Dug McDaniel will be an NBA point guard. Tony Perkins, Ace Baldwin, AJ Hoggard and Elijah Hawkins are really solid. Bruce Thornton usually looks like the best player on the court regardless of who they’re playing.

Yeah you might be right.  The general point I was trying to make  is how these teams play.  It is different than the Big 10.  And it looks like it could be very problematic for us to stay in front of.
