Don’t think we need Wisconsin to lose as we have tie breaker.

We do if it's a 3-way tie between Nebraska, Northwestern, and Wisconsin. Wisconsin would jump to the 3 seed if that happens.

For some clarity, a 2-way tie goes to the matchup. We are tied at 1-1. Next tiebreaker goes to the record vs. Purdue. We are 1-0 vs. Wisconsin 0-1. So even if they beat Purdue at the end of the season, we have the advantage.

We are 1-1 vs. Northwestern. We are 1-0 vs. Purdue and Northwestern is 0-1. So we have advantage over them as well.

But when it's a 3-way tie, Wisconsin is 2-1 in the matchups, Nebraska is 2-2, and Northwestern is 1-2. So the order would go to Wisconsin, Nebraska, and then Northwestern.

Been nice if you had stated why. I looked it up and it’s the first tie breaker.

  • The records of the three teams are compared based on winning percentage in games between the tied teams.

Wisconsin ain't finishing 3rd. They are 2-8 in their last 10. Nebrasketball's gotta win at Crisler, and NW needs to lose one more in their final two, which almost seems likely they drop 1. Our team can finish third, which is incredible after being 6-7 in the league, flailing about at the time, and to finish 6-1 in the B1G thereafter is a big testament to this entire coaching staff & group of players for their resiliency and toughness in the midst of adversity. Now, certainly can now assume a win at Mich., as Juwan Howard and his squad will want to win B1G at home on Senior Day themselves, but I think our NU prevails. GBR Always.

This guy seems to think Nebraska and Minnesota are on the bubble.  Compares us to them, and Northwestern and Michigan State have a better path to the Tournament.

While I agree that Northwestern is in, Michigan State is 17-12 and is in no way shape or form a lock to get into the field of 68.  Minnesota should not even be mentioned next to Nebraska's this year.

Nebraska's important rankings

Kenpom - 34

KPI - 30

SOR - 31

NET - 43 (I do not like whatever formula this stupid ass metric uses)

RPI - 37

BPI - 37

I know this much... If they leave Nebraska out this year Fred Hoiberg may murder someone.  Nebraska is 21-9 with a 16 point win over the #1 team in the country.  They do not have 1 bad loss, and can't have a bad loss even if they lose to Michigan on the road that will be a Quad 2 loss.

I read another person's outlook that said seems like Nebraska should be higher, but they're not.  To be safe they need to win their last two and maybe a couple in the Big 10 tournament.  In the same breath said Michigan State is a lock and had a great loss to Purdue.  Are these people mentally challenged?  Do they not realize Nebraska beat Michigan State... oh and Purdue?

i think we are fine. worst case scenario IMO is we lose the next 2 and they put us in dayton.

Seems like we're trending towards a 8-9 unless we make a run in the Big 10 tournament.

Could see the committee bump us up to a 7 or down to a 10 just to put us in Omaha....how about for a conspiracy theory....where a group gets together and does something to benefit Nebraska.

......and then you are reminded that Barry Collier is on the committee 🙂

This is true. While Michigan is currently teetering on the precipice of being a Quad 3 road game, right now they're Quad 2. If we beat them, they might drop to Quad 3, but if we lose, they'll get a giant bump well into the middle of Quad 2. There's really no chance for Michigan to fall out of the top 135 if they beat us. Therefore, yeah, no bad losses on the season. But a few really good ones. Also, Michigan is not going to beat us.

But what if Jaime Pollard wants to give TJ Otzelberger and Iowa St a chance to take out Fred?

Not the NCAA tournament needs assistance for getting more eyeballs...but...this match up has to be very intrguing.

Any history on the committee doing this in prior years.

I want out of that 8-9 game. would rather be a 10 seed. Would getting to the finals of the BIG Tourney move us up to a 7?

What if ...

I don't think that teams get moved up and down due to matchups....it's more about if there is some logistical issue or if you want to avoid a conference members playing each other early on. I do not actually believe that the Iowa St athletic director nor the Butler athletic director have some sort of personal agenda involving Butler.

Maybe an injustice from 2018 to send NU as an N.I.T. 5-seed back to that charitable exhibition site at Miss. St. could be righted in 2024 in the biggest of the dances. . . maybe.

Couldn't agree more. It's incredibly difficult to get the teams slotted initially. Then you have to slot the protected teams. Then you have to avoid rematches and separate conference opponents. By that time, there's no wiggle room for "hey, let's screw this team, or hey, would it be a great story if ..."

That being said, I think the Alabama AD is going to screw us for the '77 win over Bear Bryant.
