i think getting a good coach here is next to impossible. We are the worst power 6 job. I think the only way is to succeed is maybe luck into a coach like Ole Miss lucked into Chris Beard. No up and comer is going to come here. Career killer.

Fortunately I did not watch this disaster. I am still seething over Sunday's debacle.

Tonight was worse. Lost to a bad team whose best player by far played 3 minutes.  Inexcusable. No effort the second half.   Lost virtually every 50/50 ball.  Played no defense.  Turned it over with lazy passes and ball handling.  No rebounding at all.   I can handle bad, I can’t handle lack of heart and effort.  Especially coming off an embarrassing home loss.

Someone will take this job just for the money… but as I said last year, you can’t be afraid to fire someone because of what you might not get.

I think we are fortunate to have Fred as a head coach, but this is such a tough job. And going into the future we don't have the NIL support to compete it seems. Most of the local resources go to football and Creighton basketball.

Yes this is a touch premature to talk about this but it has to be asked. If we REALLY look bad the rest of the year for the most part I think he'll have to make a change but I really don't think Trev wants to do so.

Our lack of athleticism is getting exposed a bit and we don't quite seem united as a team. Keisei is a huge liability if he's not getting and hitting shots. Leadership on the floor is lacking a bit. I'm shocked how poorly we are rebounding in general of late. I was ready to call us a good rebounding team. It's really hard not to be concerned even though it's early.

To answer the question ... no ... he won't be. He has to be getting a bit frustrated by the ability to not compete NIL wise.

Blaming it on NIL is a lame excuse.  Our guys are all getting paid well.  The rest of your points are accurate.   We can compete in NIL and do.   Need a coach who will run a program year round rather than just diagram plays

The NIL part is not true. We offered more for the Aurora kid than CU and he turned us down because he wanted to be on a better team to showcase his talents for the next level.

I'm not blaming it on NIL but it's certainly a big factor. Our guys are getting paid decently, but "well paid" is relative. We ARE NOT competing in NIL. It's a gigantic issue for this program. The main players who fund NIL don't have much of an interest in supporting Nebraska basketball.

Even if true, one example does not make it true in general.

Your info is faulty.  Not sure where you’re getting it, but it’s wrong

My question is:

Did we break Fred Hoiberg or was that the NBA? We get a coach who anyone on this board would have been ecstatic about 7-8 years ago, and somehow he has been an historical trainwreck. I think we'd have the same luck with a resurrected Dean Smith, Roy Williams, Coach K, etc.

The one who can turn it around will have a statue raised in their honor.

It feels like it.  It could be as simple as the conferences.  The Big 12 was about the players and offense.  He also gives his players a lot of freedom on the offensive end.  The Big 10 is a coach's league.

Turns out, hiring a guy with a serious heart condition to turn around the worst major college program wasn't a great idea

At this point, I'm not sure if we brought in Jesus,  if he would be able to turn it around.

That and the fact that the Big 10 has no qualms about f**king over a university they didn't really want in the first place

I don't know where you get yours, but I feel good about mine.

Prolly just a Matt hater who assumes a lot of things due to that.  They’re everywhere.  Maybe send in a donation and help fix it then.   Bitching is free.

It matters what local businesses and businesspeople want to support most of all. Basketball is NOT a priority for most of them.

I know a lot of them who do prioritize it.  You can see some of them in the front row of PBA.  If you go to the games.
