USC & UCLA TO JOIN BIG TEN (beginning 2024)!

USC and UCLA are in negotiations to join the Big Ten, as soon as 2024!

If the B1G is going to expand to 16 to try to keep up with the SEC, this is move that makes the most sense. 

 

Not sure the B1G needs to expand, but there's no question that the Maryland-UCLA matchup in late November to decide the Continental Division in football will be must-see TV.

Bummer that we couldn't get KU...but I guess the primary focus is football and not Basketball. How soon before Hawaii joins the SEC?

UCLA is no slouch in hoops though.

 

And the media market is MASSIVE.

True...I guess I'm still just a tad disapointed that the KU to the Big 10 thing was going to happen.  I'd love to see another team from the Big 8 days join us...and honestly KU is the only one of the bunch that is included in that group.

Not done...yet.  A lot of work to be done.  Scheduling may be a bit tricky, but I bet divisions become a thing of the past.  I also wouldn't bet against two or more additional teams.

If this move happens, they should just call the conference championship the Rose Bowl.  USC and UCLA collectively account for 58% of the Pac-10's Rose Bowl victories.

My guess— B1G goes after Notre Dame, KU, Stanford and Oregon soon.  Super conference 1.

 

SEC looks to add Duke, UNC, Miami, and Clemson.  Super conference 2.

Doubt KU.  Seems like they didn't want each other the last time this came up.

Ok...so where do the remaining Big 8 schools go?  I honestly don't care where the Texas schools go..as long as it's not the Big 10.  The newer additions I feel sorry for.  I don't see the Big 12 lasting much longer.

Been watching BTN for an hour or so now and a lot of the talk about "what's next" for the Big Ten from all the pundits centers around:

 

#1 Notre Dame

#2 Oregon/Washington

#3 Stanford

 

And that's it.  I would expect that IF there are any more additions imminent it will come from that group.

One benefit is Nebraska potentially having better connections to the Southern California region than most of the current league.  Damn I miss the  good old days of the gas station Saturday basketball Big 8 doubleheaders though.
