I hope you’re right. I’ve been underwhelmed with the PG play so far this season.

I haven’t checked in a couple games - but for most of the season he had the highest +/- on the team. He’s highly effective and a phenomenal team and individual defender. Just not putting the ball through the hole as often as we’d like.

If he gets in the lane a few more times a game and shoots 30 percent the rest of the way on top of the key uncontested 3s people will remember him pretty fondly.

I’d argue if his teammates cut and move better off the ball when he gets to the paint we’d be appreciating him more. Also, playing in a starting line up with a terrible offensive post, inconsistent 3pt three point shooters like BB and Gary, and iso scorer like Brice - isn’t exactly conducive to assists.

Good points. Thanks for your insight. I hadn’t thought about off the ball movement or really looked at the +- all that much. He is strong to the basket for sure but he does miss some bunnies too. As @B-town hoopsfan said, I hope we all remember him fondly. GBR!

GG hasn’t done much for NU but don’t forget his season last year for Rutgers. Maybe it’s just my memory of his game in Lincoln last season, but it seems like GG has proven more in the B1G than ER. And I sure hope he will in the future.

Has Griffiths proven more though? With the money Rutgers had to spend in the offseason, there is a reason they let him walk. I was excited when he transferred here because I was also going off of the games he played against NU last year, but we apparently only brought out the best in him when he is on the other team. Rice appears to have done more with fewer opportunities. Since both seemed to get lost on defense, I would much rather be bringing Rice off the bench for his shooting and versatility attacking the basket than what I've seen from GG this year. I think Rice just got bad advice or had delusions of grandeur if he transferred to another P5 and expected to start...probably should have transferred to a mid-major for more PT.

Thanks for pulling the stats! I must be letting his performance in Lincoln last year cloud my judgment. From a minutes standpoint GG has played more, but he wasn’t nearly as efficient as ER. Thanks for helping me see this from a more complete perspective.

If this post were a Poll I'm taking Rice over Griffiths.

Shout out to Eduardo Andre who was West Virginia's leading scorer today in their upset win at Kansas. WV was missing two of their top guys but it was no problem for Big Ed.

Very fair honestly. I was not a fan of Rice at all personally, so I'll lean Gavin despite his struggles. Thought Eli  played with massive tunnel vision in his time here, and he was obviously not a great defender, but not like Gavin has shown to be much better. I think it's pretty obvious Eli is transferring after the year, so I'll be interested in how his next stop looks.
