I had to memorize that poem as a kid.  I can maybe paraphrase part of a stanza now.

 

"For on the deck my captain lies all fallen cold and dead."  Or something like that.

 

I could probably still recite "Old Ironsides" from memory.  Or close to it.

 

Ay tear her tattered ensign down

Long has it flown on high

And many an eye has danced to see

that banner in the sky

 

Beneath it rung the battle shout

and burst the cannons roar

 

and something.

 

OK, maybe I can't remember that one either.
