Finally watched the highlights.  He is much better than I would have anticipated.  He wouldn't be all that much worse than Morrow IMO.  He isn't a black hole turnover machine at least.  Better shotblocker.  If we can get him playing as a high energy defender offensive rebounder off the bench, I am okay with him.   We just need to scotch tape this together this season while we regroup.  He is a really good get to serve that purpose IMO.

With the addition of Nana and Thomas joining Roby, Glynn, Copeland, Gill, Evan, et al, I am hoping for an eraser in the paint...we seem to be gearing up to be a wide open team, meaning we will take chances on defense, if so, we require a couple of bigs that can erasing mistakes.  This guy seems to fit that to a T.

I was going to give you an up arrow on this, but the whole arrow thing is starting to feel like junior high again. Oooh, he likes me!

So instead, "That makes sense to me too, huskercwg. Congratulations on your well-reason thought, because it mirrors those of mine, which are always well-reasoned."

Any news on how his visit went?

I thought someone said him and Mayes were as good as ours and they were just going to finalize the paperwork on their visits. Just curious if anything has changed.

Luke warm to this signing, but I don't get paid millions of dollars to coach/recruit so I'll defer judgement till he steps on the court in a Husker uniform

So he takes up a scholarship for a year.  If he ends up a bust, he is a big body and it is better than signing someone like Vooch who is a major project.

Holy cow. Robin posted a pic on twitter of Duby blocking a shot. The guy has his elbow above the rim. Impressive

Totally okay with this get. We need depth in the post. And there's not a lot of options this late in the game. Worse case scenario he doesn't do much and his scholarship is back on the market for next year.

True, but it's clear Miles needs to win next season. I'm more okay with this signing if it comes after the other big (Hans Brase) visits, but if Duby can't stay on the court without fouling and continues to shoot at an Andre Drummond-like percentage from the FT line then I think it's fair to have legitimate concerns. I absolutely hope he succeeds and miles looks like a genius, but for now I worry a bit

I get what you are saying.  Personally, I believe that Duby's ceiling and basement has nothing to do with how much we will win or lose next year.  He will not make or break our year.  We have the pieces needed to win, so this signing is just adding a bit of depth.

I think this is a really smart get.  This kid is a freak athlete and does nothing but make spark plays (eye opening dunks and blocks).  There are going to be games where he makes one or two of those and it starts a run for us.  Talk about a spark plug, and a GREAT look in practice against Jordy.

Exactly
