  1. That sounds good. What's the competition level look like in VT? He plays for a school that mostly plays against other prep schools that are essentially basketball feeder programs. They play in the Hoop Hall every year and then play against schools in NH, MA, CT, etc that each have at least 2-3 top 150 players each year.

  2. I have talked to some people who have transferred their child out of Mount Michael because they felt it was poor academically. I've also talked to some Creighton Prep instructors personally and was not impressed. In Nebraska anyway, I'll take the public school over the private every day of the week.

    The All-NAME team

While NU has it's Handy Johnson and Cookies (Belcher & Miller) the world of College Basketball is littered with great names that go from the absurd to the unusual. Here is the starting 5 for my All-NAME team. Feel free to come up with your own. Baskerville Holmes - Memphis Fennis Dembo - Wyoming God Shamgod - Providence Smokey McCovery - Oklahoma Skeeter Henry - Oklahoma

  10. The only question is whether he's bald or not. (Is that cryptic enough? ) Edited to add: Apparently not bald. Maybe balding, though. Depends on the light.

  11. You know, Miami won 25 games last season & they ended up the N.I.T. runners-up to Stanford. IIRC, I think the finals of the N.I.T. went to OT... "Canes have Angel Rodriquez at PG, they're pretty good. NU will have their hands full on December 1st.

I've also talked to some Creighton Prep instructors personally and was not impressed. In Nebraska anyway, I'll take the public school over the private every day of the week. As a product of public schools, I will tell you that some of my teachers were awesome and others sucked badly. Horribly badly. I would imagine you get the same variation in private and parochial schools. The one that would be different would be Omaha Brownell-Talbot. With what those families pay for tuition, the faculty better all have graduate degrees from Harvard. I would be shocked -- SHOCKED -- if Elkhorn could match the educating going on at Brownell-Talbot.

  13. That's a deep random thought. Is it also a cryptic deep random thought? Like, both Florida bailees want a spot here and we only have one current opening? Cryptic? I read every single post in this forum and honestly I'm not actually sure of the origin of this latest inside joke........ I think 'Cryptic' goes back to Miles Press Conference, about the time when Harriman announced he was leaving. If you recall, near the end of the presser Miles put out a random line that no one was sure how to interpret; something about there could be a lot more turnover in the office staff? Seems like some of the habitués around here have taken a 'fancy' to 'cryptic.'

  18. These guys don't have funny names, but the were sweet ball players for ISU. The first ever Husker game I attended was against ISU when their STAR was Barry Stevens, which led to Jeff Grayer, to a portly Victor Alexander and then some kid from Ames they called "the Mayor" All true but they did have a kid named Lafestor Rhodes that dropped 50+ on Iowa in the late 80's. I had a roommate from Iowa that year. And one from Wyoming, and the two always argued who was better Lafestor or Fennis Dembo. Dembo was the one who played in the league.

  23. Go out and Google this guy. He has had a tough life and ended up making lemonade out of lemons. Obviously this could still fall through. But this appears to be a great hire.

  25. Florida has a 6'8", 245# 4-star power forward for the '15 class who has reportedly asked for his release. Don't know if that means we have a shot, but you never know.

  26. I see this as a homerun hire. What is the B1G recruiting footprint? This guy is from Jersey City and played for Bob Hurley. He went to college in Chicago. He coached at Manhattan and was hired by Billy Donovan to be an assistant at Florida. His stomping grounds are rich with prospects. And there's a good bet he knows offense.

  27. Birds, You can rest assured that social media stuff that is relevant to Husker Hoops will be posted here pretty much at the same time it appears on twitter, Facebook, etc. etc. No need to be savvy, your fellow Husker fans here will keep you up to date. Norm didn't have access to any special stuff on social media or anything, he was just privy to some insider info (possibly word of mouth even) and didn't want to "scoop" Brian Rosenthal who we pretty much defer to around here to break big news. It's also kind of a running inside joke around here from back when the Doc firing was imminent...nothing is official until Brian Rosenthal tweets it.

  28. I'm sorry, I don't like being "that guy" who has the secret. It's just that I was excited about the news but not necessarily in a position to divulge all the details. I figured letting people know that a candidate has been selected to fill the vacancy might have others joining me in the excitement. And I figured an announcement would be forthcoming soon enough so that I didn't need to play "I have a secret" for very long. Plus, we've been having fun with the whole "cryptic" thing and this played into that. Sorry. Let's just pretend we don't have anyone hired. Certainly no one from a Power 5 conference school. And I'll just let Bryan Rosenthal have all the thunder.

  31. come on. just give us the name please. For those of us not on twitter, or any other social media for that matter, we are at a disadvantage. Just stop playing the kindergarten games of "I know something you don't know." It is just plain childish.

  32. Well, I didn't post it on the recruiting board, so that might be an indication. Meanwhile, I'm content to be cryptic.

    2015 Transfer List

Played his first year at Auburn. If you're Miles, you go after this guy immediately With his 4.6 pts and 5.0 rebounds in 20 minutes of playing time per game? For Kennesaw State? Ugh. Do we have to? Better than nothing That's what we thought about Moses as well and look how that turned out. Sometimes nothing is better While Abraham didn't live up to the Georgetown transfer hype generated here and elsewhere, I would prefer a large body that could give you some minutes and also gives you 5 more fouls to distribute. The self imposed scholarship sanctions need to end. If we could get a one and done that is serviceable go for it.
