  3. Nope though I would have. I'm not the only one who mods around here. HHCScott is more of the bouncer around these parts, Normy~! Well then, thank you Scotty! You are the hidden, but necessary part of this equation! Thank you! It wasn't me this time. Sorry. And a ton of credit for the quality of this board, in moderation, but also in site design and operation, social media, t-shirts, belongs to Dimes. I've not been able to be as active this past season as I was in the preceding years, and Dimes has been the glue holding the whole operation together. And none of us would have had this without Dave's initiative. Thanks also to all of the longtime posters who have stuck with us through the transitions and the tough years to see this new era. You guys are the best and truly represent Nebraska.

I was just about to say, this thread makes me wonder what's on the menu at Conlee's? About a month ago, we added a pork bacon burger to the menu. It's a 1/3 pound patty consisting of ground pork mixed with bacon. We add a brown sugar glaze, a fried egg, top it with bbq sauce and serve it on a toasted bun. It's great with one of our homemade sides--macaroni salad, potato salad, baked beans or cole slaw. It tastes better than a topless girl in a Lincoln park on a cold winter's night.....

  5. Okay, I swore I would not start a topic on this dude, but %*^ I am. Congratulations on all the honors you are receiving including the Wooden Player of the Year award. Richly deserved! Now then, I listened to his interview over the noon hour on ESPN. He responded to a question with the following paraphrased response ...I want to thank my coaching staff, my teammates for their unselfishness and the people of Omaha... Hm, very interesting. No mention of the people of NEBRASKA, simply the people of Omaha. In my very humble opinion, that says a lot about the Creighton program versus Nebraska's program. The Huskers are Nebraska's team, including a significant number of people living in Omaha. Creighton's fan base exists of perhaps 30,000 true fans, and some bandwagon jumpers who will support whoever is winning. Sorry for the rant...but that is how I see it through my big red colored glasses. And again, congratulations to Doug McDermott for a great year and career in Creighton and good luck in the NBA. I think you will be there for a number of years barring injury.

    Gotta Love Kenny Bell

Try not to get any tears on your sweater vest. Just a perfect example of players (and in this case fans) reflecting their FB coach's personality. He is not from Nebraska, he knew nothing of either NU or CU before dropping passes here err... attending school here. obviously he also forgot about the basketball game in December as he was probably dropping passes err.... practicing hard for his bowl game. This sounds very Craytonish of you...no need to hide it, we all know you are a Crayton fan. Where did Kenny say Nebraska was better than Crayton this year? So once Nebraska beats Crayton at the Pinnacle next year..this means Kenny is free to enjoy Crayton's basketball losses? Like many of us..I'm sure Kenny grew weary of the holier than thou attitude from most Crayton fans. And being a Nebraska basketball fan he has no reason to like Crayton...but yes, I'm sure this all Pelini's fault. Errrrrr yes, very Craytonish of you Crayton fan. You guys just can't help yourself. It doesn't take long for you guys to be outed. As if you knew.... Be it a fan of either, a fan of both or a fan of neither is moot. Reality is, one fan base is in the position to regularly defend actions and words of players and coaches, one is not. Some people are willing to do so for "their team"(your name here), some are not (my name here). For me and me alone, its a core values decision not a loyalty decision. At the end of the day, KB has his right to say what he feels is appropriate and we have the right to say I like or dont like it. One fan base has written on their walls " Through These Gates Pass the Greatest Fans in College Football.”.... known for their collective class. I dont think KB is honoring that as a fan and I am not going to defend it. Is it part of your "class" and "core values" to diss KB for "dropping passes". Kind of hypocritical on your part, not to mention way off base, as KB is a superb wide out who makes some great catches, including a highlight reel ESPN special--regardless of what you think of his tweeting.

  7. Yeah I agree, I don't think Miles is going anywhere. Just wanted to start some discussion and decided it was a good topic to post for the first time and I have been lurking in the dark shadows forever and have seen the LIGHT ha

    Gophers win the NIT

True, but I'd rather be them than Iowa! True, but I'd rather be Iowa than a rusted out Chrysler K car sitting in some junkyard in Peoria. Although I could understand why some would disagree.

    Jess Shepard

Like you stated, Norm, she's a current HS junior. Given another year under her belt, I'm certain she could start for UConn her freshman year. And Geno and staff would develop her even further. Happy she is a Husker (or is going to be a Husker)! I recall an article about the Kissinger sisters and one of the twins mentioning how she once looked up into the stands of one of her club games and Geno was watching. Now, he may have been watching somebody on the opposite team, but he may very well have been watching Jess. Or both.

I would be surprised if they hadn't reached out. Jessica could play for a team like Connecticut. I think she's that good. I mean, think about it this way. She's a junior in high school and would probably have started for a Nebraska team that made the round of 32 and was ranked most of the season. Which is different than saying she could have started for Wayne State or Wesleyan. If there's a HS junior out there good enough to start for one of the top 30 teams in the country, I'd say she's good enough to get recruited by Connecticut. Anyone think it's over-the-top hyperbole when I say I think she could have started in the post for Nebraska this year? Theriot Laudermill Cady Hooper Shepard

  13. If I am a player, I want my fans to have high performance expectations...I then would want and personally expect, to meet or exceed those expectations. My worst fear is that someone would set low expectations and then simply be satisfied with meeting those expectations. Crap, we better have recruits/players come to Nebraska that we fully expect will imrove our team...otherwise we will never, ever win a game in the NCAA tournament.

  14. I am a very stong Catholic and Christian and I personnally would never step foot on Notre Dame's campus. Are they a Catholic University, yes. But, they have been controversial on many church related topics (simply google Notre Dame's controversies with the church). As a youth, I aspired to coach or lead specific teams as well. As one ages, things change. Life creates new dreams and desires. Five years ago perhaps Coach Miles thought Minnesota and Notre Dame were his dream jobs. Today, NEBRASKA is his new reality...he no longer needs to dream about anything other than Husker championships, and if he continues with his exponential improvement in this program, soon those dreams will be his new reality.

  19. I wanted to bump this to see if anyone has any new info on Deng. He was the recruit I was most intrigued by due to his skill set and what he could bring to next years team before the broken foot. With Sergej gone it frees up a scholley in the jr class, or if his recovery is slowed he redshirts and is in a smaller soph class. I think he would be worth the risk with more scholarships open. Also, it sounded like he was ours to lose early in the recruiting. Anyone have info to share?

  23. Some discussion on the ND Scout site from February: http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=109&f=2596&t=12690030 FWIW, I think the whole "make ND a basketball school" thing was more colloquial than literal. IMO, Nebraska fits the bill just as well for his purposes. But, what do I know? I could be wrong.

Tonight? Homemade doggy treats. Smash a ripe banana in bowl and mix in... 2/3 cup old fashioned oats 1 cup oat flour* 1 beaten egg 3 tablespoons peanut butter Roll into 24 smallish balls and press down. Bake in 300 degree oven for 30 to 40 mn.** *just process your oats in a food processor for a couple of mn and you have oat flour (who knew?) **my old girl prefers them a bit moist so I only leave them in for 30 mn. and I score them before I put them in so they break in half easily.
