  1. Paul Velander. (You didn't say it had to be a good team.)Paul Velander never played for Nebraska while on academic scholarship. If he was on academic scholarship, he had to forfeit it to play. As a Senior he was given a basketball scholarship we couldn't fill. Why would you give a basketball scholarship to a guy on academic scholarship? Why wouldn't Duke have 80 walkons if you could play guys on academic scholarships. If Sai Tummala is playing for the Huskers next year on an academic scholarship it will be along side Roburt Sallie, Michael Jordan, and a dunking werewolf in some alternative universe.

  4. Anybody think it could be possible that Coach isn't all that confident in Biggs' ability to stay on the team after his transgressions over Christmas break? Haven't heard much about that story lately...but I do recall they hadn't resolved any course of action as of yet.

Considering their success in the tourney, just curious if those who attended the game against FGCU last season recall Sherwood Brown, Comer, Fieler, Thompson, Murray and Varidel and what your impressions of FGCU where then and now. NU 51 FGCU 50

  13. Then we're all fooked! Yeah can almost see myself after being shot in bed by a jealous husband, me at the ripe old age of 95, and with my last breath thinking 46 pages for Matthew Atewe. If there had only been 42 I would have been done here and crawled out on the roof before her husband got home to catch us.

  14. Some of the scenes were. One of which was the locker room/coach's office. I thought so, too, but apparently that's just a rumor and is not actually true: http://www.fast-rewind.com/locations_teenwolf.htm >There has been long standing debate as to whether other locations used allegedly included Fremont, NB. An Alumni of Fremont High School wrote in with the following: "In a previous review of "Teen Wolf" it states that some of the gym scenes and locker room scenes were filmed at Fremont High School, in Fremont Nebraska. This is a false report. None of the scenes from "Teen Wolf" were filmed in the state of Nebraska. There is a credit at the end of the film that recognizes Friends from Fremont Nebraska. The reasoning for this rumor is the sticker and calendar in the coaches office that are Husker Power and various Husker items that make an appearance in the movie. Scotts kitchen is a Husker calendar as well. This is being investigated and believed that someone from the City of Fremont may have came up with the plot and possibly idea for Teen Wolf. All I know for sure is that NO shots were made in the school or in Nebraska. A friend of mine was the Coach of the football team at that time and he has no recollection of such filming in locker rooms or thereabouts. I am also a Alumni of Fremont High and nothing in any scene is familiar. Neither Michael J. Fox nor the Coach Bobby Finstock stepped foot in Nebraska much less Fremont confirmed by then Head Football Coach and Athletic Director of Fremont High at the time of shooting of film. " I suppose that's what I get for believing the Internet. everything on the internet is true. Where did you read that, the internet. Oh here's my french model i met online. Uh Bonjour! I hate myself for saying this, but that dude makes me laugh every time I see that ad.

  20. At least we aren't the only ones to have this discussion. Check out this discussion on a Kentucky message board. It goes just about the same as this thread--right down to quoting the same NCAA Bylaw and to expressions of disbelief. Pretty funny. But . . . , seriously, read the NCAA rule. It specifically applies to "a student-athlete who was recruited." Don't know whether Sai would qualify for an academic scholarship . . . but it would be fun to see Roburt and Michael together . . . not so much the werewolf.

  23. Okay I'll take the bullet and fall on my sword for the team. I'll give up my scholership so that we can sign somebody else. I wasn't going to play much this yea anyway, Norm didn't like my set shot. I have the size for a 5 just not the height. As I always said, I'm not too fat just too short.

  24. True. But really there aren't too many basketball players capable of starting that have earned any of those high profile academic scholarships. I see the problem if you bring in a player and then suddenly 'find' one of those academic scholarships for them. But what if the player has earned one of those scholarships on their own academic merit before they even decide on a school?Maybe Sai's parents will just foot the bill so he can walk on after all. Then why arent people doing that in football. Fisher and Myron Rolle wouldve qualified and in todays football you can bet your ass the coaches would take every advantage of this rule. Also Norm like Silverback stated dad is a professor so he gets the discount and could walk-on.

  25. I have to think that Kamdy is right on this one. There would have been no reason for Sean Fisher to be taking up a football scholarship if an athlete can take an academic scholarship. He scored a 39 out of a possible 45 on the MCAT, which is in the top 1 percent of all who take it. He has 4.0 grade-point average in both business administration and pre-med, and he's an Academic All-American. Right now he is waiting to hear back from the University of Chicago, Stanford, Michigan, Nebraska and Johns Hopkins. If an athlete can take an academic scholarship, then there is no way that Fisher wouldn't have been able to do that.

  26. Jimmy, are you actually hearing this? I see you have mentioned it twice now. The Minnesota people I have talked to didn't have Manning on their radar so it would be a surprise. And very interesting if true. Minnesota seems like a big time job for a first time HC. Danny Manning is already a HC. He is at Tulsa. His son just completed his freshman year at Kansas as a preferred walk-on after turning down the opportunity to walk-on at Tulsa. Tulsa, btw, is on it's way to whatever the teams leftover from the Big East split that didn't get the name in the divorce.

  27. Here's one for you Josh. Danny Manning will take the job at Minnesota. And his son will transfer with him.

Just a few pet peeves of mine: 1) Letting players hack and otherwise beat each other up in the lane. 2) 3 second violations that aren't called. What's to point of HAVING a 3 second rule for time in the lane if you aren't going to call it? 3) Traveling. Just change the rule to 3 steps instead of two since that's how it is used. They reward physicality and athleticism over basketball skills and I would prefer it to be the other way around.

  37. One thing I think I can say for certain: If Vooch had redshirted this year, half the people on this board would be pencilling him in to start at center next season. Not talking about him leaving. We've all kind of been saying over the last several weeks (in reference to another player specifically) that bigs take longer to develop than guards and that they typically come in more raw. And this is true. However, Vooch's issue isn't simply being raw. He has some skills, there's no doubt about it. He's not a total stiff. But, if there can be such a thing as a 236 pound weakling, Vooch is it. He needs to gain a lot of weight and strength. A lot. A heckuva lot. His lack of strength is going to impede his development. Don't know if he can fix the strength issue in one season. Not sure what to expect from Vooch. There's some potential there but he's got to hit the weight room like mad and eat every meal like it's his last.

  40. OK, so this is interesting. 24/7 sports is reporting as of 3/19/2013, that Sai has named Michigan as the leader for his commitment. So, apparently Michigan has offered their former walk-on a scholarship? That's what it sounds like if their reporting is right. http://247sports.com/Player/Sai-Tummala-30664
