HoiBall Posted March 11, 2016 Report Posted March 11, 2016 Can be a very polarizing figure when calling games. I know Iowa fans don't think too highly of him just based on the fact he is very critical of their players. Some believe him to be quite the homer for the Hoosiers. He will calling the game tonight, just trying to get everyone's thoughts on whether they enjoy games when he is on the call. I have never had a problem with him, and I see him as being very fair and honest when calling Husker games. He has not been shy in his praise of The Vault on broadcasts. What are your thoughts? Quote
FredsSlacks Posted March 11, 2016 Report Posted March 11, 2016 he actually doesn't bother me, but i feel like we lose every game he calls for us. lol. Quote
MichHusker Posted March 11, 2016 Report Posted March 11, 2016 I think he says a lot of good things and i enjoy his broadcasting Quote
royalfan Posted March 11, 2016 Report Posted March 11, 2016 Enjoy his broadcasts. He is interesting. Quote
brfrad Posted March 11, 2016 Report Posted March 11, 2016 He tells it like he sees it. I like that he doesn't sugarcoat it. Quote
Buglem Posted March 11, 2016 Report Posted March 11, 2016 He's not shy with his opinions. Enjoyed his call on the OSU PSU game tonight. Quote
49r Posted March 11, 2016 Report Posted March 11, 2016 He wouldn't stop harping on Saint Mary's and their 18 wins against 222 or lower RPI teams during the OSU-PSU game. Â He had a point. Â I don't have any problem with him. Quote
atskooc Posted March 11, 2016 Report Posted March 11, 2016 Mike Tirico is outstanding, that's what I know. Bugeaters1 1 Quote
Silverbacked1 Posted March 11, 2016 Report Posted March 11, 2016 I like Dan because he is fairly honest on what he sees. He is also just weird enough to keep your interest. He also will change his mind some if he knows he is wrong. Quote
Dean Smith Posted March 11, 2016 Report Posted March 11, 2016 While watching the Wisconsin game my 11 year old says, "that guy says a lot of stuff I've heard you say." So I got to say I like the guy. royalfan, Red Rum, atskooc and 3 others 6 Quote
lefty_g Posted March 11, 2016 Report Posted March 11, 2016 I also like it when he is on the call. Â He should be an Indiana homer, I believe he played and coached there. Â But I don't think it is overboard. Quote
AuroranHusker Posted March 11, 2016 Report Posted March 11, 2016 If Iowa fan doesn't like him, that's a good reason to believe Dakich must be calling out the thug Woodbury & rightfully so. Quote
jimmykc Posted March 11, 2016 Report Posted March 11, 2016 He's ok. I just don't think he should be assigned to games which feature his son's team. Quote
hskr4life Posted March 11, 2016 Report Posted March 11, 2016 He's ok. I just don't think he should be assigned to games which feature his son's team. Â This! Â No matter how much you try to stay even, it is very tough to call games and not have a little rooting interest for your own son. Quote

Handy Johnson Posted March 11, 2016 Report Posted March 11, 2016 I've heard him heap praise on the crowd and the atmosphere at the Bank, claiming it's as good as any in College basketball. Indeed AuroranHusker 1 Quote
colhusker Posted March 11, 2016 Report Posted March 11, 2016 I like that when a kid does well he praises them and if they mess up he will say they messed up. I have no issues with him. AuroranHusker 1 Quote

Indeed  Yep, and he couldn't stop gushing about Miles' game plan last night.  He also loved him some Benny and Glynn...and Tai...and Shavon...the whole team really. AuroranHusker 1 Quote
bobcat402 Posted March 11, 2016 Report Posted March 11, 2016 I like Dakich just because is different, he will get after the refs if they make bad calls, he will say just completely random things that only he notices, but once he says you notice it and just adds the right amount of wackiness to what can be a stale broadcast. He and Tirico are one of my favorite announcing combos. AuroranHusker, Silverbacked1 and royalfan 3 Quote

jimmykc Posted March 11, 2016 Report Posted March 11, 2016 Fun Dakich facts: 1. He guarded Michael Jordan in MJ's last collegiate game, an NCAA upset to Indiana. 2. He actually shut him down but since MJ scored the game's first two baskets, Dakich thought at one point the score might be Jordan 160, Indiana 0. 3. He once invented a diet in which he only ate lunch- at an all you can eat Chinese buffet. (didn't work). Quote
