Just looked at the roster and is Self' son on scholarship? If not that might be the one that opens up just like Dougie's scholoarship was "pulled" his last year at Creighton.

Pretty sure he's a walkon

Kansas fans seem to think 1 of their players might be transferring which opens up a spot for paschal. :(

If that does happen, let's get in on whatever 4 or 5 star that happens to be.

I know it's a funny joke but all scholarships were accounted for last year. There was just two years of self imposed scholarship.

Pretty sure we only had 12 scholarship players last year unless you are counting Menke.

We didn't use them all last year

I thought for sure we gave it to Menke again but apparently not.

Menke was on a schollie the past couple of seasons, and he helped boost the team APR in the process. Kye Kurkowski didn't have a schollie, though.

Thats what I thought.  Menke would've made it 13 last year then in that case.

With all due respect to Menke, that was a scholarship awarded to him because we couldn't fill it.

Why in football if a coaches son steps foot on the field he is a scholarship player automatically and that is NOT the case in basketball?

Not sure that's automatically the case.   Shawn Watson and Tim Cassidy were both on the coaching staff and had kids walk on.   Cassidy's kid eventually earned the scholarship but it wasn't given right away

As long as the kid is an actual walk on and follows normal walk on protocol, I don't believe it counts.   If the kid is a recruited athlete he can't walk on.

The question was whether Nebrasketball 'used' the scholarship, so I guess it's a matter of interpretation. The APR for the team sure improved when Menke received the benefit. ;)

One tweet thought it would be Hunter M. Transfer from Arkansas. Hopefully we land Paschal. If this is about PT, that's the smart move.

Paschal should probably use Mickelson as an example of what happens when you transfer into KU as a big man. You will get recruited over quite easily and perhaps even marginalized.

That said, if Mickelson is the guy forced out, I would assume he becomes a graduate transfer. We could use him, too.

I think kids commit to KU because of the great campus Hideaway pizza and Boofies Jayhawk Bar..... but wait, the Campus Hideaway is now a dry cleaners, and Boofie has been dead for the past twenty years. Maybe we do have a chance.

Kind of like kids coming to Missouri for the Shack!

I don't understand this post.

Yeah, who's Hunter M. Transfer?!?  Never heard of Mr. Transfer... ;)

I think, now, that's a bold statement, I think he meant that KU was looking to off-load a Mr. M that had transferred from Arky?! ((shrugs))

At first I thought the kid's name was Hunter M. Transfer.

Then I thought of this dude:

Then I realized he was talking about the Jayhawk Hunter Mickelson - who transferred to KU from Arkansas.

I think the thing about PT is lanigan123 saying that if Chukwu is looking for playing time, NU is the place to find it.  But I could be wrong about that.

Hunter Mickelson is on KU roster who is a transfer from Arkansas. Kansas people were suspecting he would be the one to transfer out of KU roster to make room for Paschal!!! If he were to transfer he would be a senior graduate transfer that would be eligible to play right away is what I understood.

Granted at all times.

We'll see what happens, but I'm not really liking the fact that he's taking so many visits before deciding. This is gonna drag on for seemingly forever. It could be that he's just being very careful and thorough, wanting to make the right decision for himself the second time around...but it's going to be so long since he has been here when he finally gets around to deciding with 4 other campus visits more fresh in his mind than Nebraska's campus.

I felt the same way about AW3, but that turned out well.
