Coach Tim Miles said Monday he would hold meetings on Monday and Tuesday to discuss what role each returning player is expected to have next season. Such meetings sometimes lead players to consider a transfer.

 

Nebraska, which ended the season 13-18 and on a nine-game losing skid, has continued to recruit this spring as if scholarships are available. Coaches have made trips to Michigan, Arizona and Australia.

Most interesting thing about the article is in regards to Hammonds.  It doesn't sound like he would be on the chopping blocks if it comes down to it.

Agreed. Seems to indicate that they're still seeing the same potential when they recruited him and it's just a matter of him adding the weight/strength to be in the mix for the B1G.

Can't imagine Benny would have anything to do with it.  Benny will be a senior next year.  Would he really rather sit out a year transferring rather have to compete with Benny and an incoming frosh? Maybe.  Tarin transferring would be no bueno.  I think he will be a good one.

I will say the same thing I have said in other threads, I want all of our players to return IF they are willing to make the sacrifices for this team to move significantly forward.  If they feel entitled or feel as if everyone but them must approve, then I have no issue saying good-bye to any of the players. 

 

But here is the thing, many of our current players WILL do what it takes.  For those who feel differently, well, I hope you have success wherever you choose to go.

I don't disagree...at all...but the issue may be with his attitude about it.  If HE personally feels slighted by the recruitment of Watson and the appearence of adding yet another PG the next cycle, then perhaps he will want to say good-bye.  I am not certain what can be done about it at this time.

 

If you were Coach Miles, what would you tell TSmith he needs to be improve upon?  For that matter, when looking at our returning roster, what would be your short discussion with each returner?

Agreed...and Watson either. Tarin spent 4 years fighting for his spot at St. Anthony's. 

If he was going to transfer it would probably be either wanting to be closer to home and/or not liking how he's utilized.

He earned playing time throughout the year...he would seem like someone we have pegged for playing time next year.

- Put more effort into defense

- Keep his eyes open when he's driving to the hole....you can see his tunnel vision sometimes when he has the ball and he decides he's going to score. That doesn't work so well against some the 6'9" rim protectors in the conference.

Who knows, maybe Tarin is looking to go back home. One never knows the whole story 'til the source is talking... we can merely speculate online about the musings of an 18 year old FROSH.

Although this 18 year old graduated at the top of his class and played for a tough SOB of a coach and is likely mature beyond his years.  But yes...I agree with what you are saying.

He has some work to do on some things.  His shot isn't falling.  But, hell, make yourself a more complete player so that you can contribute points even when the perimter shot is off.

Just curious.  What does one do with a degree in ethnic studies?  This question comes from a person who has his degree in broadcast communications, being in sales since forever and is trying his hand in the restaurant business...  ;)

 

Well, cip, you go on and get your master's in ethnic studies...then the PhD.  Then, you become an ethnic studies professor.  It's pretty cut and dried really...  :)
