TheKamdyMan Posted December 2, 2012 Report Posted December 2, 2012 So with all the talk from Miles and others involved with the program about how Monday is big for the future, the compliance dept tweeted you cannot make a sign with a recruits name while on their visit. What are some ways around actually putting his name on their but getting your point across. Mine would be: We Want a picture of a tie, a picture of a spiders web, and finally a picture of someone stirring something. Then a giant N with the New Zealand flag hanging off it. Quote
nebrasketball10 Posted December 2, 2012 Report Posted December 2, 2012 Unless there's been some significant rule changes in the last 5 years, the UNIVERSITY (athletic department) can't make shirts and signs. Fans can do whatever they want. Otherwise I could go to Creighton games with signs when they host recruits and get them in trouble. Quote

Bugeaters1 Posted December 2, 2012 Report Posted December 2, 2012 I got the same tweet Friday also kandyman Quote
hskr4life Posted December 2, 2012 Report Posted December 2, 2012 See I do not get that. I agree that if someone wanted to get someone else in trouble all they would have to do would be to go to the game and make a sign with the recruits name on it. Quote
tcp Posted December 2, 2012 Report Posted December 2, 2012 I"m guessing there would be a confiscation of an objectionable item, and that would also meet the compliance standards. Quote
GoBigRed Posted December 2, 2012 Report Posted December 2, 2012 No punishment is going to be handed down because of that. That tweet is just the NU Compliance Department's way of "getting ahead of the situation." The NCAA doesn't even punish every recruit getting paid to play collegiate sports because they know there are far too many. They aren't going to worry about a stupid sign some frat boy made. Quote
Huskerpapa Posted December 2, 2012 Report Posted December 2, 2012 The Red Zone could try to memorize and sing the following: Quote
Jadler Posted December 3, 2012 Report Posted December 3, 2012 My poster plan is very simple: "NZ to NE" Quote
jimmykc Posted December 3, 2012 Report Posted December 3, 2012 I note from the LJS this morning that Tai arrived Saturday. It was quite impressive that Bo tried to help the recruiting effort by having his team play using Rugby rules. Quote
Norm Peterson Posted December 3, 2012 Report Posted December 3, 2012 How about this for a sign: "Huskers win B1G if this game results in a Tai." Quote
HB Posted December 3, 2012 Report Posted December 3, 2012 With Tai's saturday arrival, we could not have had better weather for his visit. Hopefully the stars are aligned. Quote
49r Posted December 3, 2012 Report Posted December 3, 2012 New Zealanders are no strangers to cruddy winter weather. Of course, their winter is actually in the summer, which ended a couple months ago so they are just starting to have summer, which is really winter. So by having summer weather in the winter (or, if you are from New Zealand, winter weather in summer, which is actually winter, not summer) in Lincoln, Tai should feel right at home! Quote
nebrasketball10 Posted December 3, 2012 Report Posted December 3, 2012 I don't get that. It was explained to me that the spirit of the rules limiting what the University could do (signs, shirts, etc) was to level the playing field so universities with tons of money didn't have a recruiting advantage over smaller-budget universities (which doesn't make much sense...). I know we couldn't show video image of the recruits - or of a simulated "tunnel walk" introduction for them - on the HuskerVision screens for that reason. Quote
Daledangdarn Posted December 3, 2012 Report Posted December 3, 2012 You sir, got repped for this. Quote
jimmykc Posted December 3, 2012 Report Posted December 3, 2012 I'm not sure Tai would grasp the significance of a 30 year old sitcom. Plus it might be thought to be in poor taste since the mourning period for George Papadopolis is still in effect. Quote

Nighthawk Posted December 3, 2012 Report Posted December 3, 2012 lol..what if everyone started a Tai chant? Highly doubt they are going have cops at the doors handing out tickets as you leave for chanting a guys name. Kimani's Ffriend 1 Quote
jimmykc Posted December 3, 2012 Report Posted December 3, 2012 There are no tais in basketball. Daledangdarn 1 Quote
Jadler Posted December 3, 2012 Report Posted December 3, 2012 Ok, so the rules have been set. No signs bearing the name or image of a potential recruit. I'll say this again. NO SIGNS bearing the NAME or IMAGE of a potential recruit. Other than that, fair game. Quote

NeeandMe Posted December 4, 2012 Report Posted December 4, 2012 There was a sign at the end of the game help up in the red zone that said "Let's Tai the knot" and Webster loved it. Quote
sayelr Posted December 4, 2012 Report Posted December 4, 2012 So, speaking of signs, could someone here enlighten me as to who the girl was in the big head cutout sign someone had on the baseline at the game? Quote
