nuled2dance Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 My family has donated more to the university than most people we know and my 71 year old father claps, stands and cheers. royalfan Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 Speaking of chants it might be kind of nice to get the NBA like MVP chants going when Petteway goes to line against NW. Shuttlesworth 1 Quote

hhcmatt Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 BTW, I'd be completely behind getting rid of the "Husker Power" chant if we replaced it with "Us Always" jdostal 1 Quote
Silverbacked1 Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 Poor Jean is getting killed in the comments section of the LJS. One guy even wrote "Jean Peck...you suck". We are least being kind if nice here. Norm Peterson 1 Quote
HuskerFever Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 BTW, I'd be completely behind getting rid of the "Husker Power" chant if we replaced it with "Us Always" Â That's still rude. Jean would like for it to be "YOU.... ALWAYS!" If it's not about the other team, then it's not polite. Quote
KZRider Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 Of course it's rude. THAT'S THE POINT! Norm Peterson and jaimes2000 2 Quote
49r Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 They call it "hostile environment" for a reason. Â We didn't invite the opposing teams and fans over for tea and crumpets. hskr4life Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 Someone needs to tell that old hag that it probably is not out of line if our coach is tweeting videos of it. Yeah, you want unsportsmanlike just drive up the road and that coach tweets about dirty "hustle" Norm Peterson 1 Quote
Red Rum Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 All joking and Jean-bashing aside, I hope this doesn't discourage people from yelling. It only makes me want to yell louder. hhcmatt, HuskerActuary, Silverbacked1 and 1 other 4 Quote

Nighthawk Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 Jean needs to take lessons from these Wichita St. fans.  LOL! Thanks for the memories. This is totally off topic...but I remember a number of years ago when we had four seats at the Bob. Nebraska was playing KU and my grandmother (god rest her soul) was a diehard KU fan (she was even buried with her KU sweatshirt). She came up and went to the game with my parents and myself. She was so excited (although NU of course got blown away...our excitement came from her happiness) to be at the game...and the people sitting right next to her had a cousin on the KU team so that got her even more pumped up to be at the game. It was the last time she got to see KU in person. jimmykc, hhcmatt and Shuttlesworth 3 Quote
northwillriseagain Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 Key to Jean's note is that she starts with she enjoys the pep band. Probably like my Gramps says "and I hate all those new bands who can't even dress appropriately for their concerts, like the rolling stones." a0t0w0 1 Quote
Norm Peterson Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 So, our response to Jean, summarized:  Yes, it's rude. Duh. That's kinda the point. You can't have a hostile environment without a little hostile.  At least we got rid of the part where we yelled that the other team's players suck. Which is less sportsmanlike? Cheering for YOUR team during the other team's introductions? Or booing the other team during their introductions? You apparently didn't take issue with yelling that the other team's players suck. Why complain now? How is this even remotely worse?  I've said it before but I'll say it again. This is the BEST tradition we've EVER come up with that is uniquely ours. It gets the crowd into it and it gets the noise level up and it is AWESOME. It's the only thing we do that fans from other teams might watch on youtube and say, "That's cool; we should do something like that." jdostal 1 Quote
Jurgey Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 Did anyone else notice when we were BEATING Mich St., that their student body would yell, "green/white" while we were shooting free throws? Â Talk about rude. Â We could have maybe beat them by more if they weren't distracting us! Quote
uneblinstu Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 BTW, I'd be completely behind getting rid of the "Husker Power" chant if we replaced it with "Us Always" Can we organize this for the Wisconsin game? You think this wouldn't fire up the team? Holy smokes! unl 1 Quote
