No postgame thread yet - did uneblinstu go to bed early tonight?

Stu hasn't posted in a long time. It's usually Bug as "the guy" who starts the post-game threads, I'm guessing Bug called it a night. And what a night it was. GBR

Nebraska's only turnover of the 2nd half was an intentional shot-clock violation with 4.5 seconds remaining. Incredible. We looked like a team to be reckoned with the last 2/3rd of that ballgame, once we figured out how to defend them correctly. And that offense was on fire, wow, I'm lovin' it!!!

Wow.  Did not realize that.   A terrific stat.  If I am remembering correctly I think one of the halves against Illinois we had our 1st turnover with less than 2 minutes left also.    Protecting the ball is huge.

Need to take care of the ball (check 1 turnover with 3.7 seconds left), rebound (check + 8 in the 2nd half), and make shots(check shot 55 % from the floor and 6 - 9 from 3)

I should be a coach.  🤣

Funny you say that, I've been thinking Berke could become Jokicesque. I'd love to see it.

berke at the 4 and mast at the 5 will feed families next year, then just need some bigger athletic guards who can shoot (should be easy HAHA). maybe then need a back up athletic 4/5 to eat up some minutes when our big europeans get tired. add in hoiberg/essegian/janowski/frager and im looking at a sweet 16 lock

Not sure if we have the NIL for his sense of worth

Guessing his sense of worth will be down this go around as he’s the clear third big at UCLA now and aside from an injury or foul trouble he’s gonna play maybe 5 minutes a game the rest of the year.  Also not sure if our situation next year would interest him at all with hopefully Berke and mast back.  He would be an auto take for me as long as the NIL isn’t crazy still though

Him with only 1 year left isn’t as desirable to me. I hope we are after a younger big to take over after Mast/BK.

I would look for a player who didn’t spurn us.  My question will be how quickly will our two redshirt freshmen be ready to contribute?  Can Essegian become a complete player at both ends and be a starter.  Replacing Brice and Juwan is going to be the big ?

I'd be surprised if William Kyle stays at UCLA for his senior season...

Fair enough. But we're going to have >6 scholarships to fill. If an in-state player with his length and athleticism wanted to come back to Nebraska to play his last season I'd take him in a heartbeat, and I'm pretty sure Hoiberg would too. The coaching staff went after him hard. Fans might get their feelings hurt, but the coaches don't. We've seen them recruit the same player in consecutive offseasons (John Hugley, Javian McCollum, the attempted "tampering" of Chucky Hepburn, etc).

Let's not sleep on the young man sitting at the end of our bench right now.  I will stop way short saying he is a star in the making.  Yet I will say I'm hearing good things about him, and our other two redshirts.

Just saying...

Janowski - Dude is a baller.

Frager has good size and is gaining strength.

Bolis is raw but very athletic.

I want nothing to do with him unless he commits then I have always liked him.

It's tricky because maybe he's Derrick Walker with ups but do we have NIL for him to be Rienk Mast's backup?  (It would probably work to play them together).  You could in theory form a quite decent 4/5 group with Mast, Kyle, and Berke (winning a tourney game would help to get the kind of bankroll you'd need for this)

It would seem that UCLA has money to pay him to be Mara's backup next season if they want. Just don't know if we can put together that sort of bag and not sure beyond looking at stats on a website if Kyle has the Walker/Mast distribution ability that can fuel our type of team. I don't have the cynical view that all guys are looking to go where they can get the most money but Kyle's last trip through the portal seemed to reflect that mindset.  Maybe a season being the 3rd guy at UCLA will change that perspective a bit.

Speaking of Kyle and NIL, it would be quite hilarious if Wake Forest signed Bilew instead of Kyle because F Wake Forest.
