Rutgers has looked a bit better of late, but they're not that good. Bailey and Harper can go, but the rest of the team offers nothing. Also you can force Bailey to shoot them out of the game with contested mid ranges.

They have talent on the roster I think but they end up watching the two Frosh dominate the ball. That hopefully plays into our hands. We need a good one to get some momentum back.

Rutgers is quite a lot better this year than we were during the Bryce McGowens year.

Highly ranked freshman who many planned to come in and have a Cinderella type season only to lose to teams like Kennesaw St and Princeton in the non-conference and are struggling in conference play. There’s just a lot of similarities.

The 4 times we've been this big of a favorite in a B1G game under Hoiberg, we've covered. Since we joined the B1G we've covered 12 of 14 times when favored by at least 8.5 - many of these games pre-date Fred, of course. And almost half of the 14 B1G games where we've been this big of a favorite came against dear ol' RU.

There are plenty of differences too, for example:

Rutgers is 9-8 and 2-4 in the league, KenPom #90 with notable wins against Notre Dame, Penn State and UCLA (and very close losses to Alabama and Texas A&M) and is projected to end up 13-18 overall and 6-14 in the league.

By mid-January of 2022 we were 6-12 (0-7), KenPom #159 and no notable wins.

We did not get our second conference win until February 27th in the third to last game at Penn State (also our first road win of that season). We were 8-21 (2-16) at that point.

We did not get to 9 wins overall until our next game at Ohio State on March 1st.  We ended 10-22 (4-16) that year.

Rutgers' average margin of loss this year is 8.25 (13.5 in league play)

Our average margin of loss by mid January 2022 was 15.5 (19)

Maybe the biggest similarity is Rutgers still hasn't gotten a road win...yet.  But if we don't come out tomorrow with hair on fire, they could get one.  Don't sleep on Rutgers is all I'm sayin.  Two lottery picks is way better than our one (borderline 5*) second round guy and if they go on a little bit of a run this month, they still have things to play for.

Oh for sure— we could get beat. Anyone can beat anyone in this conference, Minnesota included.

Jim Larranaga was the coach of that team!

Lucky enough to have the corresponding Media Guide which lists the previous year's box scores

I was like how the heck did we lose this game.  Shot better, outrebounded them and then I saw our turnovers... Sure could of used Lue.
