Hausen looks like the West Texas Tominaga. Is the takeaway here that Essigian is probably a more well rounded player with higher upside, lower floor? If we're just looking for a guy who makes threes, it's Hausen

He seems purely catch and shoot. Doesn’t have much wiggle with the ball in his hands. Think he plays more like CJ and Essegian plays more like Tominaga.  If Essegian and Keisei had solely catch and shoot roles, their percentages would look more like Hausen/Wilcher.

His freshman tape might be a better indicator of his upside.  He had a hell of a season when healthy.  I'm guessing Fred is pulling out all the stops here.  I'm not sure he's a bench player when healthy.  Pretty natural 2 guard.

Looks like a poor man's Tominaga to me. I'm sure he can see himself in that role here which must be pretty appealing. I'd take him in a heartbeat!

Offensively Keisei could do so much more than shoot threes. Standing in the corner waiting for kick outs is the opposite of what Keisei did. I understand your point, but he’s an  Admiral now. He deserves the corresponding respect.

If Admiral Ted Carter’s call sign was “Slapshot” can we please make Keisei’s “Bangarang”? 🫡🇺🇸

Ted Carter no longer is an Admiral.  It was taken from him when he abandoned ship, and joined the enemy camp.

I think some are sleeping on Essegian.  I don't see him as a poor man's Keisei.  CE has 2 inches on Tominaga,  arguably better athleticism.  He has a quick release like Keisei.  Both are very capable scorers inside the arch.  And let's not forget that KT (who is 1 of all my all time faves) didn't blossom until the second half of his junior season.  CE already had a great freshman season and his sophomore season was slowed by injuries and coaching decisions.

He could easily start

Worster

CE

Brice

Juwan

Mast, Kyle, Milicic, or Morgan

The comparison was in regards to their range. However thanks for the corrections as the comparisons were very much under researched

Yep. He’s the best basketball player of all the shooting guard Tominaga types we’ve been after in the portal imo. Given the opportunity (and assuming he’s healthy) there’s no reason he can’t have an improved version of his freshman season next year. All the tools are there. His true freshman year was equal to that of the second half of Keisei’s 4th year junior season.

Indiana got Kanaan Carlyle. So now they’ve added two combo guards who each average about 1 made three per game on low percentage. Next to Galloway who does the same. Their McDonald’s AA three point sniper decommitted. They swapped out their 7 footer for another who is also an elite rebounder (not their issue) but is less versatile and less athletic than Ware. Which should effectively clog things up even more next to Reneau and all their guards who can’t shoot but also don’t have any amount of room to penetrate. Their fans are super pumped about their #1 rated portal class though.

Omar Ballo is no. 1 in 247's portal rankings.

Myles Rice was all Pac-12 as a freshman. We always assume our freshmen are going to improve 3 pt %, so I guess his could as well.

Kanaan Caryle, another freshman, averaged 11.5 ppg at Stanford.

Trey Galloway shot poorly last year but was at 46% the year before. Big difference: he took 60 percent more shots last year because nobody else on the team could shoot.

Reneau is a beast.

That's a hell of a lineup, no matter what you think of Woodson as a coach (he won 23 games and an NCAA win in '23).

That 46% from 3 for Galloway is an outlier.

‘23 was the senior year of one of the greatest players in Big Ten history in TJD. Really don’t think Ballo moves the needle much for that roster despite his ranking. You could argue Ware was just as good a center, if not better. And a better fit next to Reneau, as he could step out and hit an occasional three. Much more versatile defensively too.

The backcourt is definitely more talented with Rice. Not impressed with Carlyle. They still have no pure shooters and will likely have the same spacing issues. They will probably be ranked pretty high in the preseason though.

Probably a result of Ohio State picking up big man Aaron Bradshaw from Kentucky.

I'm like 51% sure that this guy posted a "I'm back" about tOSU earlier this month.  LOL.  Just goes to show, never stop fearing until the portal closes.

Without knowing the details, I wonder if Ohio States incoming transfers changed his outlook on playing time.

That, or it's always about money now.
