I think it's the fact that no one knew it had been reviewed in the arena is what caused some consternation.

Yeah, I was in PBA and had no idea what was happening l

Fortunately Brice swished 2 FTs to maintain that 58-55 lead. I seemed to figure the situation out quickly, but there was no announcement that Sam's basket was disallowed.

I hope Gary's shoulder is ok, Seemed to be causing him a lot of discomfort.

Williams and Tominaga played much better together I thought.

Yes on Juwan Gary, I hope he's fine.

And, yes, on Brice & Keisei as well. Both played with a sense of urgency, particularly when the chips seemed down. And that felt like a drastic change from last time out at Minny.

I get that the goaltending call was a bad call - but I don't think it is fair to reverse it 3 minutes later.   Particularly when the other ref made a very obvious make-up call on the very next play that I don't think there is any way he calls if the goaltending call had not been made.

I guess I don't understand goaltending. I THOUGHT it was called for one of two reasons. Most obviously when the ball has reached its peak and started down. (Clearly, that was not the case on the shot in question). However, isn't it also supposed to be called with the defender pins to ball to the board regardless of where it is ? That DID occur on this shot and, IMO, the goaltending call should have stood. Perhaps that is an older rule that is no longer used?

You can pin the ball. It is goaltending if it has already hit the glass

Looking at that MSU board... is it true that Izzo hasn't had a portal addition in like 2 years?  That just seems crazy in 2023.

Tyson Walker and Joey Hauser were his last two. I talk to an MSU fan fairly often and it's been something they've been screaming about, specifically at the big spot. They have a young 5 star freshman 4/5 on the bench in Xavier Booker, but his minutes haven't been great this year for them. Sooner or later, you have to try him though.

Does anyone know what Izzo was talking about when he said that he didn't care what the lawyers have too say?

When was that in the presser?  I wasn't hanging on every word he said but I didn't pick that up.

On interesting tidbit was that they didn't play their 5* freshman PF because they didn't think he could cover Gary....essentially saying that they would have give him run with Allick on the court.

I don't know if it was in his presser. But i seen tweets about it, and the PBP guys mentioned it. Also I think I read it over on the MSU site, but it was late last night.

This was a comment from after the Wisconsin game. In context I'd say it's him saying he wants to run his practice 'Bobby Knight before hand held camcorders were common' style and who knows how serious he is.  This might be some excuse for the old heads on the board to lament the good ol' days but you might want to keep in mind that Izzo might have more oversight than he's used to because Michigan State employed Larry Nassar for over two decades.

Izzo' final statement at his presser:

"All that being said, I’d be remiss since, not only is Fred a good friend and I coached his son, I have a lot of respect for Fred and the job he did. They deserved to win tonight. He did his job. The crowd was great, as it always is here. I think other than losing to Creighton, as a lot of people do, but that game they played so well the first half at Minnesota and struggled the second half, and give Minnesota some credit. This is a team that’s 9-2, could be 10-1, and I think they’re gonna be a pretty good team. They got a lot of good pieces and he’s done a good job with them. I don’t want to sound like it was all my team playing bad, because a lot of it was his team played good, including making those 3s. I mean, there were very few wide-open 3s. He made three that should be illegal, and I wish he’d give those back to me, but the other three or four were pretty well-contested, and there were probably a couple that weren’t. So they made the plays, we didn’t, and they won the game."

The last 10 minutes or so you could tell he was favoring it quite a bit out there..  He attempted 1 3 pointer after that and airballed it.

Kansas St is Colorado with an inferiority complex. It's going to be a viper pit down there.

Yeah, well, Colorado is on the verge of being ranked in AP and Coaches poll (they are #21 on KenPom) and just beat the absolute brakes off Miami yesterday in Brooklyn.  I'm not sure KSU is quite at *that* level, but they are very good and Bramlage is a place where dreams go to die.

The students will be on break, correct?

I'm more generalizing the fanbases of these schools than I am caring about what they're actually doing.  Colorado football fans are notoriously salty but at least they're arguably the flagship school in their state.  Kansas St is the LA Clippers or the NY Jets of Kansas regardless of what success they have had or will have.
