Would have been weirdly impressive for Frager to graduate from HS 1.5 years early and burn up a redshirt on half a year.  I'd assume the plan is to come in a year early and redshirt so he gets up to speed on Hoiball

If this is the case, is it better to play high school ball (class A in this case) your Senior year or redshirt and just practice for a year at the college level?

I'm going with enroll and practice. Gives the kid 1st hand knowledge on what it takes to play at this level and a year to work on it. All the while playing against dudes at said level.

Assuming those are the two choices, doesn't it seem like getting a year in at college is the way to go?

I can see both sides.  It is a little ironic with Hoiberg seeming to like an older roster like he has now.  I thought this might be a trend he follows in the future. (an older team)  I just like the idea of kids being kids and enjoying their high school years because college athletics is much more demanding.  I guess it is up to the kid.  I also find it hypocritical when college football coaches say how important it is to be a well rounded athlete and play all sports and then ask them to go on campus their Senior year, giving up their winter and spring high school season, just to practice football a few weeks in the spring.

This has to be come from Frager. I think that Hoiberg would be more than happy to have Frager do not only a senior year at HS but add on a year at prep school to boot. Seems like it just works out because we have the open scholarship and you don't tend to have the ability to graduate HS a year early on accident.

I think we'll continue to build out of the portal and thus will keep old but we want to keep adding these HS foundational pieces so that we also can maintain a culture.

In two years, when he's old enough to vote, he'll be going into his second college season. It might not qualify as age, but it will certainly qualify as experience.

While he could end up redshirting (we have a lot of guys coming back), after listening to Hoiberg's presser I'd now assume that he's coming here with the mindset to play day 1 and go from there.

That was what I was trying to think. If we have to create room, there's an obvious candidate that will likely be shown the door.

Do we really have to “create” room anymore? The kids do that for us. We’ll have at least two guys bounce, and we probably won’t have to encourage them to do so.

Such it is these days.

That post was in reference to the inaccurate thought that Frager was starting school in January

luka doncic was the euroleague mvp at 18 years old. some guys are ready to play from day 1.

also why it is crazy to me that ramel lloyd may elect to not play his 1st college game until he's 21 years old.
