Pre-game thoughts:

1. Start fast and hit early shots. Do not allow PSU to get into an early rhythm.

2. Bando needs to lockdown Pickett and make him turn it over.

3. D-Walk needs to stay out of foul trouble. We can't afford to rely on Oleg and Wilhelm on the road in the B1G.

I mentioned this in another thread and I'm curious how FH will counter.  I have seen PSU using Dredd in the 5 spot. This might work for them against Walker on D as he will have better chance at high post handling Walker, plus on offense Walker will need to come out and guard him for his ability to shoot 3.

Of course, I am sure there are weaknesses for PSU with this strategy and hopeful FH will find ways to exploit.

As a team, PSU is 362nd out of 363 in FTA/FGA.  This is a team that even Breidenbach should have trouble fouling out against

I’m afraid this is a bad matchup for Nebraska. Would be the perfect game for Gary to be a small ball 5 when Penn St goes with Dread at the 5. He’ll pull whatever big we have guarding him out on the perimeter. But I think the real issue is they’re going to post up Pickett. Since we’re talking analytics today, when you break it wayyy down the most efficient shot in basketball seems to be a stand still, catch and shoot 3 off a pass out of the post. This is why Villanova’s offense was so damn good with Jalen Brunson at pg with shooters all around him. We’ll double Pickett, as he’s a threat to score on the block. But he also happens to be arguably the best playmaker in college basketball. Penn St shoots 40% 3FG as a team and they have shooters everywhere. I’ll be impressed if we keep this one close.

I cannot get behind this bold of a take!!!  Instead I will keep my fingers crossed though and hope for the best.  Breidenbach will be a much better player once he learns to channel his exuberance and energy.

Maybe i'm wrong here but I think it's more about our defensive philosophy than it is about whether or not Walker has to defend on the perimeter.  The entire season we're trying to take away the paint and this is a Penn St team happy to play 5 out.

Pickett vs Bandomuel is going to be something

It is natural to key in on the PSU offense, but to me, our defensive philosophy may create the edge in our favor.  A second key is not necessarily shot selection; rather, it may be whether or not either team hits their shots.  If we get to 70 points, I think we win this game.

B1G refs will make sure those stats bump up into the upper 200’s after our game lol.

Matchups will be important.  Especially the way we are willing to switch all the time.  We may fair better than most because of our big guards (SG and EB) but if KT gets switched to Pickett that may be trouble.

I just think Fred will find a way to exploit if they decide to go to small ball. Walker may be even better at high post because if his passing over a smaller 5.  Of course, it may just come down to whether we can make any shots or not.

But you can be sure that not a damn one of those fouls will be the correct call😜

Am i crazy in thinking we have a chance of seeing Adam Howard's zone D this game? Keep Walker from running around the perimeter and yes, contrary to popular belief you can effectively protect the 3pt like in an aggressive zone.

Well FH did say during his conversation with Kent that they did put on some new coverage for this one.
