Miles coached teams seem to have one kid that shoots way more than others and yet shoots under 40% but is our leading scorer.

JPJ is 150 of 407. That is simply not good enough. I don't really care that he has 19 ppg. And that's because, if he were somewhat efficient, he'd get 23-25 ppg.

If it wasn't clear, I am agreeing with you 100% - sorry if that was confusing.  Still in shock in watching what took place in Happy Valley

That's because he tries too hard to draw fouls.  He goes 1 on 3 at times.  That does not work.

I'm having trouble understanding how anyone could be in shock.   It's been obvious for weeks we aren't very good.  In fact that there was something dreadfully wrong.  I thought there was a good chance we'd go 3-17 after Cope went down.  , Actually won a couple more than that.   Just have to play out the string and start over.  Again.

Oh I figured... I am just trying to put stats to this disaster... The porous D is the worst part.

HB I am not shocked we loss, hell I predicted it. I AM shocked by the lack of fire and or effort given.  Team had given itself a chance to be in the discussion again and came out like they could have cared less.

This too

Amazing the significant drop-off from the D. Team's been way too casual, gave away some games earlier. Now it's hosed them. Almost like they don't even care they lost.... sad state of affairs. Frankly I'm probably more pissed than some of the dudes playing. That's not the way it's supposed to be.

Historically bad night

Well, that makes one feel only 'slightly' better in that it all happened during a horrifically historic night for NU's D against PSU. Lions made shots when they hadn't all year... ((sigh))

My feelings exactly.   Just could not believe the lack of effort tonight.

I have advocated coaching changes in the past.   I have been very hesitant to do that this time for a couple reasons - first as I get older the thought of starting over all over again gets even more depressing.  Second I will still maintain that Miles is the first coach we have had since Joe Cipriano who has taken the program a clear step up from where it was under his predecessor.    (Of course I admit that is too a large extent due to the state of the program when he took over - being at the lowest point that I think it has been during my long lifetime.)

All that said - I can't defend what we are seeing right now.  Part of a coach's job is to inspire the players to play with maximum effort.   Tonight's game is a pretty clear example of Miles failure to do that with this group.

True, but we've had that look before since January.    I haven't seen great effort or emotion for a long time.  No joy in the competition.  More relief than excitement, even when we did win a couple.  Just a strange team beginning in January.  I maintain it was crushed beneath the weight of rare high expectations.  Didn't have the leadership or intangibles to handle it and push through the struggles.  I've seen "lack of fire" for a long time.  I get that 95 could take it to a new level, but the 2  teams who took the floor last night were heading in very different directions coming in.

Penn State had their "Creighton game" against us.  They splashed a few early threes and we folded like a tent.  At least Creighton put up a bit of a fight.

I knew it would be like this so I put off visiting the board. I think looking at more snow through my window is less depressing. Just to pump some sunshine, I will end with two positive thoughts: 1. This game might have saved Pat Chamber's job. 2. So glad that someone invented "fast forward".

Anyone know why Watson got benched immediately after making a three to open the half.  We came out in a strong fashion to begin the half.  He was briefly benched and looked extremely uninterested in hearing what Miles had to say.   He got back in there but we no longer played with that urgency we demonstrated for about a minute to start the half.  I was distracted during that time for a little a bit so wasn't sure what was going on.  Anyone know?

Good call I'd forgotten completely about this. It's on BTN2go if anyone has a chance before i do.

I rewound that part right after it happened, didn't see anything significant. Maybe he didn't pick up his man in the press? He headed back down court after his made shot, where the other guards were pressing. Other than that, the TV broadcast didn't show anything odd. He wasn't held out very long.

They did say Nebraska didn't come out until 2 minutes left to start the 2nd half. You'd have to think whatever it was that was emphasized at halftime wasn't done.

Picking up their man on D. And staying with their man on D. Neither were particularly done well.
