I am spending over $130 a ticket to go sit in the heat this summer to see a 84 year old Willie Nelson.  I am not leaving early if he sucks, hell He might even die on stage but I m sitting those seats.

Just me I guess,  sorry if I stepped on any toes.

Was going to try and get tickets but boss had a meeting while tickets went on sale! :(

I personally read this as the team not putting in enough effort to keep people around. Illinois had a 98% chance of winning at that point.

I don't think you read it the way it was intended.

I also wasn't at home watching the Oscars.

The intent wasn't to call out the crowd or anyone else. The intent was to try and deal with this team seemingly fail in the worst way when what you most desperately want them to do is put it together because you think they are at some sort of cross roads...which might involve lashing out against anything.  Reading about it the next day isn't the same as the in game despair no matter how many times you might have experienced it in the past...how I felt leaving that arena wasn't necessarily the same way I've felt about any other similar sort of loss.

Big Ten hoops has seven of the Top 20 in home attendance so far on the 2016-17 college basketball season, and lo & behold, Nebrasketball is currently 11th in home attendance at the Vault (FYI: that eastern Omaha team is 10th with over 20 W's). The Huskers are 14th nationally in total attendance. All that for a team that has lost 10 of 13, and seems to be sputtering in the past week for an overall record of 12-16 (6-10 in B1G). Yeah, I'd say Husker Hoops fans are DUUUUEEEE!

If they had chosen instead to attend Wagner's "Der Ring des Nibelungen" at 6:30 on a Sunday night, would you be OK with the crowd streaming out before the fat lady sings?

Well, it doesn't make much difference how I personally feel; I compartmentalize pretty well, so my inclination is, yes, I'd be fine with whatever anyone does.

But it's not an apt comparison since, generally speaking, hearing/seeing Wagner once isn't quite the same as seeing a basketball team however many times, nor is a opera generally structured to be anticlimactic. You stay to the end because the end is designed, by Wagner, to be a buzzer beater.

Here's the other thing: I know some people leave early -  they have told me - because of how Pinnacle Bank Arena bottlenecks in the front. You don't just stay for the last 4 minutes of game clock. You stay for that, plus 15 minutes of standing (or, if you prefer, sitting in the arena) waiting to get out.

I just don't think it makes someone a bad person at 8:30 on a Sunday night, when the team is down 16 or whatever.

You know Sam I just went from sad to Mad.

And yes I am going to make it a commentary on their character.

Because it was just stupid for all those people to be leaving early.

I would like to see the amount of people who leave early from a concert at PBA before the last couple of songs?  Or that's right they can have another drink, or they paid so much more or the concert was the best ever.  And that game wasn't good.  Well guess what I bet we don't get the A efort from some of these shows that come in here either.

Plus the biggest problem I have is all this talk about the rudeness of our fans to the other team with the Husker Power Chant.

BUT IT IS OKAY TO BE RUDE TO YOUR OWN TEAM BY LEAVING EARLY?

GOT ONE WORD FOR THAT AND IT RHYMES WITH   FULL  FIT.

You know it is a commitement to by and attented all those games.  And I undersatnd if the roads are bad, your kid has a game, it is 11:00 and you need to go to work tomorrow and still need to drive 2 hours.  BUT IT WAS 8:30 OUR LAST GAME WE WERE ABOUT AT OUR SECOND TV TIME OUT AT 8:30.

So yeah I am calling out some people.  Because it is what is really rude at the PBA.

Now give me those down arrows!

I don't agree with your post, but I respect it. You could have tried to pretend you meant something you didn't, but you embraced it straight away. Good for you.

It's 8:30 on a Sunday night. Can people go home without it having to be a commentary on their character?

People left with 10:16 left. Check the game thread I made a comment on it.

I don't blame them, I was a little jealous. My father hasn't left a husker sporting event before the clock said 0:00 in 50 years.

I'm not going to attempt to polish a turd or to say that things are wonderful or anything like that.

I would, however, like to offer some perspective.

A few weeks ago, I pointed out that, while we have some star power, it's still the case that our stars are young.  Tai was unranked but is playing like the kid Fran Fraschilla thought he would be.  But he's our only senior and there is no star power in the junior class at this point.

Let's compare that to Illinois for a second.

Malcolm Hill is Illinois' leading scorer.  He was a 4-star recruit out of high school in the class of 2013, ranked the #68 player in the nation by Rivals.  He's a senior.

Maverick Morgan is also a senior.  He's their 2nd leading scorer and an experienced big man.

Tracy Abrams is also a senior.  He's the fourth-leading scorer for Illinois.  He was a Rivals 4-star and the 58th-ranked player nationally in the class of 2011, making him not just a senior, but a 6th year senior.

Last year, they also had Kendrick Nunn, a Rivals 4-star and #60 recruit nationally, in place of Abrams who was injured.  And, with that star-studded group of juniors, they managed 5 conference wins and had just 13 wins overall entering the conference tournament.

So ...

We might be better than Illinois next year and break into the top 10 of the B1G?

Silverbacked, you think you're sad, take a walk in my shoes.  I wrested away the game thread from Bugeaters, and the Huskers are 2-2 since with the two losses being their worst in conference play this season.  It's not working the way it's supposed to.  ;)  Have no fear, though.  Thursday's thread will be a game changer.....

I have only left a game at half because my son had a basketball game and I coached it.  The only other time I have ever left anything was a concert at UNL at intermission because my mother in law got sick.  So I understand your dad.

If I had gotten tickets to game, I would have stayed until the end and then drive to Hastings. Like I did for the dbl overtime win over Iowa.
