OT: A Sad Day

Bob Brown passed away.  A great, great Husker.  I don't remember him as a Husker, but I watched him with pride when he was a Raider.  So sad he was at Memorial Stadium with him whose name will never be spoken.

My mom was a teacher at Whittier Junior High in Lincoln when Mr. Brown was doing student teaching or something for school and he came walking into the office with a young boy under each arm.  Said I found these two boys fighting where should I put them.

Sadly, we have another addition to this list.  Randy Meisner passed.

I'm a sentimental fool. I LOVE that song. I try not to care about celebrities passing, but this one is sad to me. A part of my youth just died.

I saw Buffett in concert four times. It was like being with 30,000 of your best friends.

Had one of his cheeseburgers a time or two in W. Omaha. It wasn't in Margaritaville, unfortunately. Omaha had been more known for its buffets, and Warren, too.

Melanie Safka passed today.  Always kind of liked her. Brand New Key was a big hit, but this was my favorite.  If I'm not mistaken, she was in the crowd when the Beatles performed All You Need Is Love on live worldwide tv.  RIP.

I saw him in Biloxi, MS when I was TDY there for an Air Force training. With Ted Nugent I think. It was a few months before Hurricane Katrina. My heart sunk a little when I saw the news this A.M. Really enjoy his music.

When I heard the news about Eric Carmen passing this morning, I was bummed.  I bought The Raspberries two albums. The first, the Scratch and Sniff album, had a sticker on it, when scratched, it smelled like raspberries.  Last time I scratched it, 25 years ago, it stilled smelled of raspberries.  Go All The Way was on that album, but their follow up was pretty good as well. He had a pretty good solo career also.  RIP!
