    Moses Ayegba is N

Hi everybody...long time anonymous browser of this great site but finally decided to register and participate. I wanted to chime in Moses' height...my son and I happened to be walking into the Spring Game right behind Coach Miles, Terran Petteway, and Moses. Standing side by side flat-footed, Moses was barely taller than Terran. I'm guessing 6'-7" at most. I see him listed as 6'-9" in places and considered a center...and due to his wingspan and skillset that's probably what he'll play...but I think people should be prepared for the fact he's not overly tall. That doesn't mean he isn't a great pickup or won't do everything we need him to, but I had to do a double-take. (or maybe Terran is even taller than I realized!) On that note...I sometimes think that "height" is overrated. I look at Edward Morrow's videos and even though he's listed on the shorter side, his long arms turn him into an inside force. Truly, watching him inside dunk with seemingly no effort, not requiring great leaping ability...he plays much longer than his listed height. I believe Moses will be the same. Great finally interacting with you fellow true NU believers. Been a fan and season ticket holder since Iba.

    Vucetic to Evansville

I'm betting he'll be a servicable player for them before he is done. Our program seems to be developing at a pace which didn't allow enough time for the roster spot to be occupied by a practice player for a couple of more years.

I am amazed she lasted as long as she did also. I have always felt the KSU athletics are a lot like a cult and as long as you are winning everything is fine. And Patterson could always pull something out like winning the WNIT whenthey had a losing Big 12 record. Also until recently she usually had a local star like Wecker or Lehning to keep the fans excited. The KSU fans also think that Voepal has it in for them even though she is one the best WBB writers around. This comes from the expo Voepalwrote many years ago about the religious and sexual orientation of Patterson's staff. I really started to dislike Patterson about five years ago. It was the game where K-State scored a lay-up at the buzzer to win by one. Patterson instead of allowing the team a reasonable celebration and then head to locker room, she allowed them to stay on the floor celebrating and generally rubbing the win in our faces for many minutes.

  9. speaking of Rivals 150 players, theres one for Wisconsin, Ethan Happ, who I feel is greatly underrated. Rivals has him at #123 but he recently played for Team USA over in Germany and was All-Tournament. He was spectacular and had a few pro scouts very impressed with his play. Of course just what we want to hear but its expected I guess with the territory of Wisconsin.

    Transfers

Doesn't look like we're actively pursuing him. Jeff Goodman @GoodmanESPN 19m IUPUI transfer Ian Chiles has visited Auburn, and is looking at Maryland, Tennessee, South Florida and Western Kentucky.

    Here's the mix

I'm just thinking about the mismatches we could have on offense with putting 2 wings out there instead of a two guard. Not all the time, but 5-8 minutes a game against teams without a great shooting guard, we could go Ayegba/Smith, Pitchford, Shields, Fuller and let Petteway bring the ball up the court. Give up some quickness on defense for sure, but I'd love to watch opposing defenses try to match that lineup of guys 6'6" and up.

We both agree that at some point Miles should get a base salary bump/contract renegotiation. I just don't think this should be done until after year 3 at the earliest and I see very little downside to waiting another year.

    Here's the mix

I think we should be looking at three positions rather than five~~~in my very humble opinion. Then within those three positions we have players who can swing. The three positions are Bigs, Wings & PG. We will have two true PG's in Benny and T Smith. We have two true Bigs in Moses and Leslee. We have multiple players who will then swing between positions.

  16. It's often assumed that approximately one person will redshirt per year due to perceived readiness/depth/etc. Last year it was Nate Hawkins. Two years ago it wasn't any freshmen because Pitch and Petteway were redshirting due to transfer Three years ago I think it was Josiah Moore. Miles will state publicly who he wants and who he doesn't want to redshirt but typically defers to the decision of the player. Nick Fuller RS..not Hawkins. I assume people think now with Ayegba/Smith that this allows Hammond a year to get stronger and get up to par with the speed of the game in practice. They say big men sometimes have a harder time adjusting to the speed/strength of the game. I for one kind of hope he does RS especially if he isn't going to get a ton of minutes. IF he can play right away and give us a solid 12-15 minutes a game then you play him. But if he is going to get mop up duty or spot minutes why waste a year? Think for example how much better Ubel would have been for us last year with a RS year under his belt?

I am simply amazed that 14 people have posted about this already so late at night. Seriously, Nebrasketball is big time now! Now I have to go figure out who this man is; I will refrain from saying young since he is a college grad.

Nice get. Trade 2 years of a rotting scholarship for an upgrade at the same position. Plus you get the scholarship off the books a year early... That's a big win for Nebrasketball.

"If we only had another Leslee" is no longer a statement we will need to make for next year. Can't wait to see what we do with the other 2 schollies!

I respectfully disagree. He has consistently shown that he can recruit the kind of guys he needs to help him turn a program around. Plus he has obviously been able to get those guys to buy into his vision and plan, much like he did here. He did this at previous stops with woefully less than he has to sell here. I seen no reason why TM can't finally start landing those real difference makers that will take this program to level of success it has not seen before. I'm not discrediting Miles at all. There's no doubt in my mind that he has what it takes and knows how to get the guys here that we need. My concern is entirely with Nebraska and if we have what it takes to be a sustainable power in college basketball. Miles is too good of a coach to be shackled in areas he can't control (eg location). Pay the man like it's a top job and it'll end nearly every conversation about him jumping to another job except one of the top elite jobs.

    OT Deb Patterson

The Kansas City Star article that Voepel wrote got taken down. From what I gathered Patterson made bible thumping a requirement of her players, and basically disowned Wrecker for daring to play softball. Hope Patterson bible thumps her way to retirement. Sounds like K State ain't letting her shop that frosh around as a resume enhancement. Maybe shouldn't translate what I've seen, but shame on the KC Star for taking that down. It's not like those things take up much server space.
