Didn't see most of the game. Missed all the good stuff, it sounds like. Were down 18 when I got home, made a surge to get back into it. Then Indiana surged back to win by 16. In the end, without Shavon, that's about what I expected. Hopefully they can find a way to grind one out vs. OSU if Shields isn't back yet, that would be big. I think he'll be back for PSU. Anyway, tough result tonight. I'll let you guys fill in the deets.

Tough game for the young guys to play in.

We were playing one of the better offensive teams in the country on their home court.

It's kind of like our game Saturday against Penn State.  They took control to start the 2nd half.  The difference was Penn State seemed like they didn't have the want to in trying to comeback.

I really hate Crean.  The guy is a dick.  How can he get people to play for him.  You barely get into a game when you are up 20 with 1:30 to go in the game.  Plus, your scholarship can be pulled from you if he finds a better player.  At least Miles gives you the option.  You might not get much playing time, I think you can get it somewhere else.

Our young guys struggled on defense.  Watson and McVeigh were abused a bunch.  Need to work on that.  I like what they bring us on the offensive end.  I feel that we can teach them how to play defense.  We probably struggle to teach them how to shoot.

McVeigh had a good game on the offensive end 17 points on 11 shots will work.  Need more out of Watson, 6 points on 12 shots will not work.

I hate to say it, but we needed more from White.  I know he had 15 on 11 shots, but while Shavon is gone, we need him at 20+ a night.

- Missed Shavon.

- Struggled getting to the line

- Put them on the line too much

- We ran out of steam, but played well the first fifteen minutes and then in spurts in the 2nd half

- We missed Ed

- Jake played pretty well again today

- Most of our players played well in spurts.

- We missed Shavon

Notes
*-Shavon Shields did not travel to Indiana and missed his third straight game after suffering a concussion against  Rutgers on Feb. 6.
*-Jack McVeigh finished with a career-high 17 points, topping his previous best of 16 set on two other occasions, most recently against Indiana on Jan. 2
*-With tonight’s game, Benny Parker moves into a five-way tie for 10th on NU’s career games list with 123. Parker has played in every game for NU over the last four seasons.
*-Andrew White III finished with three 3-pointers tonight, moving him into sixth place on NU’s single-season list with 72
*-Nebraska falls to 1-7 against ranked teams in 2015-16.

-Free throw shooting was terrible. White missed the front end if two one and ones badly. Jacobson also missed his first two. Both of them are both really good ft shooters. I don't think we made our first one until like 5 min left.

-I see a trend where Tai doesn't seem to score alot until the game is out of hand. Then he gets really aggresive. We need him like that the entire game.

-Hammond missed a dunk and another make able shot. But he rebounded and screened well.

-McVeigh had a good offensive game.

-Needed more from Watson in order to pull off the upset.

-Same for White. He can't just get his average if we are going to win without Shavon. He needs 20+.

-I swear Indiana had 7 or 8 and ones this game.

-We need Shavon back, Morrow too.

-Pretty much what I expected with missing two of our top 8 players.

I have not watched all of the game, but that late run at the end of the first half was a killer.  IU has guys that can knock down the 3.  It seemed to me that NU played a decent first half, save the final 4 minutes.  This team can compete and possibly on the neutral floor at the B1G Tournament knock off a top team.

Can't add much to the above comments. The game turned out about like I thought it would. I did think the announcers, whoever they were, were unusually enamored by Indiana's team though. Does anyone know where they came from?

As I stated before the game...Indiana is one of the worst matchups for us in the conference and I expected a beatdown...especially with no Morrow or Shields.  We are still last in the Big Ten in three point defense with other teams shooting at a 40% clip against us....11th in field goal pct defense with other teams shooting at a 46% clip against us.  Is it our philosphy...the pack defense sure seems to give up a hell of alot of open three point looks.  Is it personnel?  Young guys still grasping how to play defense in this league?  We are forced to double down quite a bit because we have trouble defending the post one on one.  I'm going to go with mostly it's personnel and being a bit unlucky...last year we were first in the Big Ten in three pt defense.  Hopefully as the young guys mature and get more time in the system we get back to playing solid D.

I don't know but if I had to guess, I'd say the journalism school at Indiana University?

The lead announcer was Dave Revsine.  He is kind of a big deal at BTN.  He came to BTN at the beginning from ESPN.  He is sort of their lead studio host and has been a play-by-play announcer for years with both ESPN and BTN.  He graduated from Northwestern.

I actually thought the duo did a pretty good job last night.

Another really good effort and signs of future promise, from my perspective.

I thought Miles coached us out of this one.  Why we switched to zone with a 6 point lead is beyond me, and his tech was absolutely inexcusable.

Hammond is every bit as effective as MIke, especially on the defensive end.  We really can't afford to give Mike extended minutes at the 5.  He's just not tall enough.  He's a true 4.  Hammond really needs game experience.  He can compete at this level.

Should we be concerned about the number of Technical Fouls on Coach Miles? Is he earning a reputation as a whiner or is he just fighting for the team?

Well in the case of yesterday.. It was bogus and he wasn't doing anything wrong, unless he said something that the ref heard. I'm okay with a"T" here and there, but don't be like Hurley at Zona St.

Every team is going to guard Drew tight.  Obviously Indiana was more successful than Penn St. Without Shields it's doubly hard to get him shots.  I assume Miles was trying to run actions for him, but it seems Indiana studied their films well.

He's gotten as many technicals this entire year as Calipari did in the first 2 minutes of their game last week against South Carolina.

So, no.  I don't think it's anything to worry about.

I'm not sure how the announcers did, I was listening to Kent and Matt, TWC BTN broadcast was synced with 1400 KLIN.  Maybe advertise a little better next time (I found out via a tweet just before the game).  Unfortunately didn't hear one bangarang :(.  Kent and Matt did a great job though.

Miles eluded to going to zone being a mistake during the postgame on the radio.  A case of outthinking himself probably.  It happens.  It was probably Molinari's idea and Miles just fell on the sword like a head coach should :).

I'm not sure the T was warranted, so he fell to his knees and slammed his hands on the court, was it directed towards anyone specific or just showing frustration?  It looked a bit unbecoming but shouldn't have been called, imo.  On the road though, maybe Miles should expect a shorter leash.  As a result, I think it was a turning point, a young team lost their composure and I think it fired up Indiana.

I just wonder if Miles should try to be more composed in those situations as he has a young team learning how to stay composed on the road in a tough environment.

We played 18 minutes of pretty high level basketball yesterday without Shields and Morrow, just need to learn to play 40.  It might not all come together until next year, but you do see glimpses, so that's encouraging.

I'm liking the recent emergence of the Hammond kid.  Just has to get those dunks to fall :).

The zone was an egregious error and the coach owned the mistake.  I am glad he is transparent in that regard.  That said, our defensive effort was lacking and that may have been the result of being worn down.  I am not making excuses, but Indiana looked much fresher on the court than we did.

I again elude to the absence of Shavon and Ed.  People look at the offense, but having those two on the defensive end AND rebounding would have helped us.
