I like this party.

Both Sessions Combined
--Huskers shot 40% from three

Wyoming has played winning ball under Larry Shyatt but they don't really have an inside presence, they don't pressure the ball, and they would have the least talented B1G roster (on paper). I feel very optimistic about our future but I know there are points this year where we're going to get completely crushed. I hope the overall positive aura this team is projecting when playing with each other will help them to weather those storms better than last year's team.

I know its just highlight videos of the win, and I know its hard to tell during the red/white scrimmage deal.  But Bakari Evelyn (on these) looks pretty damn smooth!  Will be interesting to see how he pans out.

Looking at those highlights, how many players do we have who, when they get the ball, have the ability to score in some fashion?

Well, OK, all players can score in some fashion but how many do we have that you feel that if, for example, they had an open look from three that they not only would take it but could make it often enough to be a threat from that distance?

In other words, how many scoring threats do we have?  How many scoring threats can we put on the floor at one time?

Two years ago, we had Terran, Walt (who was on that year), Shavon, Ray (at times) and, really, that was it.

Last year, we had Terran, Shavon (at times) and (at times) Tai.  Walt was off his game basically the whole season (or maybe the year before was the anomaly) and neither Benny nor David were what I would call reliable scorers.

But look at that film:  We were getting points from all over.  Even Bakari was hitting shots.  Jack McVeigh was hitting shots.  Benny was driving and alternately dishing or finishing.  When Benny dished, it was Ed Morrow who was hitting shots.  Shavon, of course, was hitting shots.  We know from the "box score" that Andrew White was hitting shots.

We have a lot more guys who are threats to score this year.  That means bench points.  That means when the starters go out, we still have guys who can keep us in the game.  Last year, we got very little in the way of bench production.  That should change a bunch this year.

I learned from Coach's radio show that the NCAA loosened up restrictions on the scrimmages

maybe they could loosen them up some more next year and forget to lock the doors.

That'd be cool.

Norm, next year you should invite Duke over to your place and have them play a scrimmage against NU in your driveway.

I like it... Call your own fouls, make it, take it, first one to 21 by 1's and 2's, any ball on the grass or in the street is out of play. .  You know we may on to something here.

To "be" or not to be...that is the question.

I learned that I am really missing watching Nebraska play basketball.

Now that football season is over and the Royals have won it all, my attention is focused 100% on Nebrasketball!

Wyoming is a perfect team to schedule in one of these scrimmages Larry Shyatt is a great coach whose teams always achieve beyond their talent level. They do it with a very structured offense that forces you to defend for a full shot clock. They don't hit the offensive boards very hard because they are more interested in limiting transition offense opportunities and getting people back defensively on misses. They are a very disciplined defense that does a good job of defending the 3-point line and the rim. They force you into pull-ups and runners. They will rarely wow you (other than the occasional athletic dunk) and their pace can be numbing. They are relentless and disciplined in running their stuff

Wyoming is very young and inexperienced this year. They're picked to finish 8th in the Mountain West. Any MWC fan knows that Shyatt will have his team finish higher. I once said to a former MWC coach that if Shyatt had UNLV's talent he'd win the MWC every year. That coach responded "No sh!t."

Maybe we can get Conlee's to cater this event?
