There is reason not to fret, however. The other pipeline that is becoming increasingly fruitful for acquiring talent is the transfer wire, and both conferences have been among the most active in the country on that front. Topping that group of schools is the University of Rhode Island. In the last six months, Dan Hurley and his staff have added a potential impact forward in Memphis transfer Kuran Iverson, a valued shooter in Four McGlynn (from Towson) and an athletic wing in Indiana transfer Stanford Robinson. Iverson and McGlynn are eligible for the 2015-16 season while Robinson will sit out next season and retain two years of eligibility.

Hurley has been raking at Rhode Island. Heck, since he isn't Jim Harrick his players probably have been in a classroom and everything!

I think Dan might be the better coach between the Hurley brothers. Bobby, of course, was the better player back in the day...

i don't have a good feeling here. if playing time was his main concern, he would not be visiting ku, mich st, uconn, virginia, and syracuse.

I have a good feeling and can say that he's taking most of those visits out of courtesy/politeness and for the sake of being thorough. Give it time. Hey may not choose to come here but we'll know soon enough. And we've got a lot better chance than you would think just by glancing at his list of visits.

Robin Washut discusses Chukwu with Mike Welch - find the podcast in the Official Media Thread:

no time to sit and listen to a podcast.  Cliff notes?

Ah, let's see.  It's Rivals?  Ok, so, how about this:  He hasn't made a decision yet, but he came away impressed.  Blown away by the facilities.  Sees Nebraska in a different light now than he did before and has us "up there" on his list of potential schools.  Am I warm?

It's not Rivals--it's "Drop the Mike" from KNTK.

Here is a summary:

--Announcer pronounces his last name as something like "choo-kwoo"

--He visited Lincoln on June 1 & 2

--He is a very private peson, and no one seems to be able to get a reaction interview

--The word from other sources is that he really enjoyed his visit here and developed a strong relationship with the coaching staff

--He particularly hit it off well with Tim Miles

--The problem is that his list of potential visits keeps getting longer, not shorter, and includes some of the bluest of blue blood schools, such as Kansas, Michigan St., Syracuse, UCONN

--The Iona visit is probably a courtesy call because he is good friends with a player there

--What keeps us in the mix with those big-time schools?

Lincoln is his first visit, it went well, and we'll keep pushing and try to hold on in the end.

Burno recruited him for Florida out of high school, so Burno is known and respected by him and by those around him--this is an excellent foot-in-the-door

Also, he would probably start from day-1 when eligible and be "the guy" in the middle for three years

Regardless of where he goes, I find it hard to believe that he will play 3 more years in college.

Are you saying you think he goes pro early? Sure has the potential.

I'd be okay with having that type of problem on an on-going basis... just sayin'

Well if he could do that then he can just go some where else...okay couldn't say that with a staight face. He could come here and if he has a mo star year could leave after that, we will worry about if that happens, when it happens.;)

paschal would have to enroll here in 2 weeks to be eligible for the summer tournament. no?

Don't think he'd be eligible to go, anyways. Gill isn't going as a transfer, either.

Yup

We're nearing 10 hours on a weekday without a Chukwu post.  This is serious.

I'll be like the little boy in Holland with his finger in the dike.

Just like Grandpa.

This is from a Virginia site dated yesterday:

We'll tipoff this loaded edition with an update on Providence transfer Paschal Chukwu (see video above). The 7-2 center has recently visited both Kansas and Nebraska, and according to CBS' Jon Rothstein, Chukwu will check out the Cavaliers next. Chukwu will reportedly visit UVa on Friday, and then Michigan State next Monday. Rothstein also reports that the big man is interested in both Syracuse and UConn, but no visits are set in stone.
