Not as bad as Cincy but Minnosota is a tough team to officiate, regardless the officials were just bad all around.

Good point.  They are tough to officiate as they are well drilled at taking advantage of the way it is being called.  Very good at drawing minor contact.  And they play an aggressive brand of defense which is also tough to officiate.

I do think the T on Shields is one of the worst things I have seen an official do.  He just stared down Shavon for about 10 seconds just waiting for him to do anything that would let him call a T.  Don't think I have ever seen a ref so obviously go looking to call a T on a player.  If the ref just turns around to the bench and does his job nothing happens.  Just a really arrogant, horrible piece of officiating.  If I was the conference supervisor that is definitely one that I would result in some serious criticism.  There is absolutely no excuse for a ref behaving that way.

I'd like an explanation of the Pitchford technical. Did anything happen? From my vantage point, the little guy went in way after the whistle and Pitchford sent him to the baseline on the layup attempt. Then, when Walt tried to help him up, little man got all up in Walt's belly button. And then Walt was T'd up. Did he say something?

I think part of it was Walt inadvertantly got his off hand (not the one he tried to block the shot with) in the little pipsqueak's face and extended that hand/arm a bit as the guy was going to the floor - kind of like pushing off whatever object was in the way to help keep his (Walt's) balance.  I'm not sure what explanation the 3 stooges gave, but there was clearly no malicious intent, just incidental contact to the head/face area.

Agree.  That was absolutely bush league and the clown should be disciplined for it.

I think everyone is missing the point on Eades' technical call. I'm sure it must have been paying homage to the original "Boomer", i.e. one Jim Baim. He was a Big 10 official during the '70's who always gave out a "boom" with every foul he called and was known as The Boomer. As is the case with every referee who is so egotistical as to think people come to games to watch them perform, he was absolutely terrible. If I am not mistaken, he was fired and banned from the Big 10 for some bad mistake he made in calling an Iowa game.

Good 'Ol Jim Bain.  Brings back some memories.  Looked a little like Johnny Orr.

By the way, Jimmy, now that Minnesota is over, perhaps it would be a good time to find another Walter.  Just a gentle suggestion...

Missed the change by seconds.   Good work Jimmy.  RIP the prior Walter.

Ah yes, jimmy.  Nice avatar choice.  Good ol' Sweetness himself.  (Sorry if someone else already guessed it)

There were only 5 or 6 fouls in the 2nd half before the t on walt, then it seemed that the refs decided to "take control" of the game by blowing their whistle on nearly every possession. It made an ugly game even uglier.

Yup. It was already frustrating enough watching us play just terrible offensive basketball, but the reffing last night made the game nearly unwatchable. That was as unenjoyable of a win as I can remember watching.

I'm still shaking my head at that call against Tai on the block. What's the kid supposed to do?
