Per Jeff Goodman, Doc Sadler's name has been connected to the vacant coaching position at Southern Miss. Since being fired from Nebraska two years ago, Sadler has spent a year at Kansas as its Director of Basketball Operations, and then returned to the bench this past season as an assistant coach at Iowa State.

Sadler owns a 149–107 career head coaching record, with stops at Nebraska and UTEP. He was also a head coach from 1998-2003 at Arkansas Fort-Smith.

How is this thread "off-topic"? I don't think I can find a single thread on this board where somebody doesn't bring up Doc. ;)

Maybe he is trying to not upset Cookie.

It didn't work, I am furious!  But really, this topic makes complete sense.  There is a newsworthy topic about Doc and as our former coach, of course it is going to get brought up here.  I just get baffled by how often people want to compare our current coach who is performing admirably to our previous coach.  Most of the time it seems as if people are attempting to make excuses for Doc which rubs me the wrong way as it is then discrediting the work Tim Miles has done.

Good for Doc!  I'm glad to see him go to a job that is not a rebuilding situation.  He'll have a chance for immediate success.

Southern Miss loses 4 of 5 starters.  He will have his work cut out for him next year.
