unl Posted February 15, 2014 Report Posted February 15, 2014 One game. There has got to be a way to win just one game that nobody thinks you can compete, let alone walk out with a win. Because of that, there's almost nothing to lose but much to gain. Even so, the Michigan State game has a bunch on the line. What's it going to take? What's gotta give? How can we pull it off? I have never been so jacked for a game that I didn't think we'd win before. Please, Huskers, find a way! Norm Peterson 1 Quote
GoBigRed Posted February 15, 2014 Report Posted February 15, 2014 We have to play loose and with no fear, not tentative. Attack the rim, let it fly, see what happens. A good start is critical in this game. We can't play catch up against them all day. ShortDust 1 Quote
49r Posted February 15, 2014 Report Posted February 15, 2014 Nothing to lose. That's what makes it fun. Quote
ShortDust Posted February 15, 2014 Report Posted February 15, 2014 It can happen, but the odds aren't the greatest. We just have to play with nothing to lose and give it 110%. Either way I won't be disappointed. Quote
GoBigRed Posted February 15, 2014 Report Posted February 15, 2014 Something that is worrisome is that in their last 2 home games vs. PSU and Northwestern they have shot 12-23 (52.2%) and 11-21 (52.4%) from 3. Won both by 15. They are 10-0 when hitting double-digit treys. 11-4 when not. Quote
lanigan123 Posted February 15, 2014 Report Posted February 15, 2014 A win here would require Rey stepping up and Leslee, too. Control the boards and hit open 3's. Shields and Petteway need to keep doing their thing. Quote
unl Posted February 15, 2014 Author Report Posted February 15, 2014 Will Shields (no pun intended) be healthy? Quote

Either way I won't be disappointed. Hypnotist: You are all very good players Team: We are all very good players. Hypnotist: You will beat Michigan State. Team: We will beat Michigan State. Hypnotist: You will give 110 percent. Team: That's impossible, no one can give more than 100 percent. By definition that's the most any one can give. Shuttlesworth, hhcmatt, 49r and 3 others 6 Quote

uneblinstu Posted February 15, 2014 Report Posted February 15, 2014 I don't agree that there's much on the line (for us). But they need to play like there is. They can't have a Creighton/OSU/Michigan performance, though. They need to show some fight. Quote
KZRider Posted February 15, 2014 Report Posted February 15, 2014 MSU is good. Very good. But they are made of steel. I'm picturing Rocky Balboa smacking Drago in the kisser and hearing Duke yell: "Ok, you've hurt him, now he's nervous, it hurt!! You see Rocky, he's NOT a machine!! He's a man!" Quote
HuskerFever Posted February 15, 2014 Report Posted February 15, 2014 One game. There has got to be a way to win just one game that nobody thinks you can compete, let alone walk out with a win. Isn't that what the Ohio State game was? Uh oh.... did we use up all our mojo on that one game? Quote

unl Posted February 15, 2014 Author Report Posted February 15, 2014 Ray is shooting at a higher clip from FT FG and 3, but he just has been absent in games this year where last year he was at least putting up shots. NU's gotta get him some looks by getting in the lane and getting some kickouts if the help defense is down low. Ray has got to score tomorrow. Quote
Norm Peterson Posted February 15, 2014 Report Posted February 15, 2014 Key is not to get blown out. If we can stick around and keep it close, then crazy things can happen. But we have to be on. Can Terran and Shavon get to the rim? Can Walt hit a few from deep? Can we hold their guys in check? They have two starters out for this game but they probably think they can skate past us anyway, without breaking much of a sweat. We need to hang around. Keep them within arm's reach. And in the last couple of minutes, it's anybody's game. Quote

Huskerone Posted February 15, 2014 Report Posted February 15, 2014 There was a game early in the 90-91 season against #5 ranked Michigan State that made people start to take notice of Husker hoops and started a heck of a run for Danny Nee. A win tomorrow could be eerily similar. Here's to history repeating itself. GATA! Quote
nuled2dance Posted February 15, 2014 Report Posted February 15, 2014 All about the start. We can't have an awful first half start. If we are in the game at half and can with stand first four minutes of second half I like our chances. MSU is still strong but missing two good players Quote

Play like we did early in conference play against Michigan. Comebacks like Illinois and Northwestern just won't cut it. Quote
nuled2dance Posted February 16, 2014 Report Posted February 16, 2014 If tai wants to have a comin out party I would be pleased. Can shavon be consistent? Shavon like many huskers over the last decade will have monster game then zip the next. Need he and TP to really have big games...love to see Walt knock some threes and see leslee work inside Quote
MichHusker Posted February 16, 2014 Report Posted February 16, 2014 I just hope this team doesn't stress too much about this. That can lead to bad and nervous play. I'm sure they know how big of a game this is Silverbacked1 1 Quote
