Appears to be good news.  We just keep upgrading our talent, if everyone can keep some patience and perspective.

He didn't transfer to Nebraska or anywhere at this time

doubt he would get drafted to the nba coming right off a torn acl. overseas would be his only pro chance.

would he be able to play right away next year?

I think it would be a second semester deal wherever he goes.

With Kenya we have a better than none chance of landing his services.

Interesting - taking a semester transfer would make a lot of sense to fill that 2nd 'ship and there's no question Miles has had success with this route in the past. Then if you have any roster turnover you could still sign someone in the spring.

I'd have to think we'd be near the top of the list if he is considering a transfer - will be interesting to keep an eye on. I believe NU spring semester starts Jan. 13, so quite a bit of time yet before any decision would have to be made.

Much depends on whether Kenya likes him or not :)  -- Kenya was at Georgetown when the kid was having his problems.  It would be interesting to know Kenya's opinion.  Was he the main recruiter of the kid?

Yes great point - I was getting a bit ahead of myself there

Kenya will know all there is to know about Wittington and should know whether he'll fit in here - so if that's the direction NU decides to go after vetting Wittington, then it's nice to have an inside track on him.

I can say this: Keep an eye on a midseason Division I transfer. Somebody that would fill the current vacant scholarship and would be eligible to play by the time NEXT Big Ten season starts.

Rosenthal said this exact thing last year, and we never ended up with a transfer. Not saying rosenthal knows nothing, but I won't believe it until i see it.

Did he say that he thought someone would transfer or did he have something more specific?  I don't recall.

I'd agree with believe it until you see it but him bothering to mention this specific scenario would point more towards some sort of chatter than just connecting the dots like we are here.  I guess we'll see.

For somebody that knows the rules: Is a mid-season transfer eligible once the first semester is over...or does the second semester need to begin?

as soon as finals are fully completed by the set date of the university.

Looking at the UNL website this year would be the 20th of December. Next year would be around the same time.

I remember a game on ESPN way back where they had some kid do this and it was a big deal. It was during a game and the student section counted down and then he walked to the scorers table. Any body else remember that?
