Just to bring this thread back to a basketball theme, I am pondering whether Bo or Danny Nee would win the all time Nebraska F-Bomb title in a one on one shout out. The champion could then compete for the national Big F-Deal title against Tommy Lasorda and Gunther Cunningham. Kenny Powers could judge the event.

Jimmy that is too funny, so funny that I pushed the wrong button. Quick somebody push the f###ing button to equal it out please.

I have a love/hate thing going on with my iPad.

I understand his rant on fair weather Nebraska fans and those that leave the games early.  Anyone who has been on this board for any length of time whatsoever can understand his rant.  Was the rant over the top, certainly.  Was he right, absolutely.  Was he right about the majority of the OWH reporters, no.  There is only one that deserves that blast.

Don't think that Bo's animosity is aimed at just those fans that leave the games early.  For the last several years, Bo has consistently lamented the fans and media.  He has consistently taken an "us against the world" mentality with the team.  He's always complained about there being too  much pressure here.  He likes his players.  Other than that, I believe he gives two (insert expletive) about anyone else.

Have you met him personally?

dont really mind the "fuck the fans" part to be honest.  I'm sure every coach thinks that at some point or another..  what is unacceptable and overlooked is him basically saying we need him to be successful and he looks forward to leaving Nebraska for another program.

I hate the "fuck the fans" bit of it.  The fans he is telling to "kiss his ass" as he walks out and takes another job are the ones paying him upwards of $3 million a year.  He just told my parents, who have had tickets for decades (and who were at the game in question), to "fuck off" and "kiss his ass."  That doesn't sit well with me.

He's the highest paid, most public figure in the state.  Imagine if a political figure said this.  Say the governor.  Replace "fans" with "citizens."  What do you think the reaction would be?

In all seriousness, that answer depends on the unemployment rate.

Steve Spurrier has a guy banned from covering SC. He can get away with it because he's winning and the greatest coach in SC history.  If something negative happens with Suppier there is no doubt that The State would be happy to jump all over it.

Pelini said what he said and you may react in the same matter regardless of how he's doing on the field.

It's obviously no co-incidence that audio was released when it was...if Pelini was winning enough it never would have been released.  If Pelini was winning enough the call would be for anger management from the masses, not potential replacement.

Did your parents leave early from the game in question?

Does it matter?  He said "fuck all of them."

Did they leave that game?  No.  But they fit the definition of fairweather fans and have for several years now.  They don't go to all the games as it's getting too hard for them to deal with all the stairs and if the weather is crappy, they don't show up.  He told my parents to "fuck off."

The fact that Pelini would go into an F bomb tirade doesn't surprise me.  I think we can all agree on that's just Bo being Bo.  What stands out to me is the fact that he felt comfortable doing it in front of a lady, Chris Anderson.  Really?  I mean really?

That is a big time lack of class.

I don't think from your description that your folks would be considered fair weather fans. to me a fair weather fan is one that take in all the glory when the said team is doing well, But as soon as it goes south for said team they leave the game/s early go outside to do yard work etc.etc.etc.

This topic might not belong on the hoops board, but if you haven't followed the developing story, it's pretty fascinating.

Apparently, rumors of the existence of this tape had circulated but not very widely.  Deadspin now has another story up on its website that talks about the origin of the tape.

They received it from one person the day they posted it.  The, about half an hour later, they received an e-mail from someone who was aware of the tape's existence but had never heard it.  But he/she did have a sort of transcript.

It appears to me the people who had the tape and who were circulating the e-mails about it were not media types because they didn't seem to know who else was present when the conversation was recorded.  A media person would have been aware that the female voice belonged to Chris Anderson.

In any event, the person who contacted Deadspin after the audio was released provided a copy of an e-mail from a source that said the radio station that originates the signal for the post-game show were "rolling it the entire time."  I believe the originating station is KLIN.  So, someone at KLIN was recording the live mic talk, heard the exchange, decided to make a copy of it, and pass it around.

There are some significant implications of this but I'll let other people fill in some of the blanks and further connect some dots.

Not to point fingers of accusation but if you add things up and connect dots, this was recorded by someone back in the broadcast booth at the station, right?  According to Deadspin, anyway.  And, it makes sense because someone would have had to be recording the program -- they always do -- but only someone back at the station could have made a copy and converted it to a format to pass it along.

Thinking out loud here, but Jeff Culhane was the Sports Nightly host until recently.  And I always remember hearing, "This is Jeff Culhane back in the broadcast booth."  And Jeff Culhane recently left the Husker Sports Network so ...

If the dots connect and it turns out Jeff Culhane had anything to do with it, just remember you heard it here first.

Could be, Norm.  Could be.

Chris is awesome.  She has been around men's athletics for years.  She can handle it.

i think for bo this gives him a reprive, before all this came out, there were some serious questions about coaching, management, ex playeres were disatisfied (damon benning sounded despondent on the air that day) but now fans, players rally, and no all of the sudden performance is in the backround, and this is just bo being bo...personally, come january, we need to seriously re evaluate where we are, and where we want to be.
