HuskerCager Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 When was the last time we have had a native Sooner on the roster? I can't think of a player. Can anyone else? Quote
meerkat68901 Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 Great news for Nebrasketball! Quote
HuskerCager Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 I went through the rosters on Huskers.com,which run all the way back to 1950 -- not one Oklahoma native. Of course, if you include the coaching staff, then we could say Moe was the last Okie.I would be very interested to hear Teddie Owens' take on Hammond, given that he was on the Sooner staff when Hammond committed, then de-committed. He obviously must have sold Miles on the young guy, and perhaps was instrumental in getting him to visit then commit to Lincoln. Quote

Cookie Belcher Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 Woooo hoo! Needed a big man badly, huge pickup. Quote
Silverbacked1 Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 When des he sign on the dotted line? That is when I will breathe easier. Quote
hskr4life Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 I am just going to say... I do not care how he got into the top 150. He obviously did enough to impress someone enough to make it there, and this is a BIG pickup. a0t0w0, Nebrasketballer and Silverbacked1 3 Quote

Kendrick Perkins Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 Here is a nice tidbit from okhoops.com http://okhoops.com/?p=2859 Jacob Hammond, 6’10 C, OKC United Prep/Oklahoma Magic: It has been a long road for the Oklahoma big man. After starting his high school career at Duncan, he spent his sophomore year with the OKC Storm before moving to Wichita last fall and playing with national power Sunrise Christin. Now after a West Coast heavy spring with the Oklahoma Magic, Hammond returned to Oklahoma to showcase his improved skills. Scouting Report: After starting his career as a lanky forward, Hammond has added weight and power to his game and is now a bruising center. The Duncan native likes being physical around the rim and surprisingly has emerged as a vocal leader. While he has gotten tougher around the rim, he’s also gotten smarter and is less prone to leave his feet when protecting the rim. Even from April, Hammond showed a big improvement in his touch and confidence around the rim, while even displaying the potential to be a consistent shooter from midrange. Rivals.com has the Magic Center as the 139th ranked player in the nation and he backed it up by dominating around the paint against the Oklahoma Wizards Elite and the Oklahoma Storm, two squads with good size. GATA Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 I woke up to some great news today! Nice to get a legit center prospect in the pipeline. Let's get Gilmore and call it a great class! I know he says he wants to play ASAP, but is he that kind of prospect? Can we expect him to get minutes right away? GATA! Quote

He liked Lincoln right away, impressed with how "clean" it was. REALLY impressed with PBA. Looks forward to competing in the B1G. Hopes to grow another inch or two. (must not have a whole lot of leg hair yet) Addressed fans' concerns that he has hopped around from school to school during his HS career, but sounded adamant that he is definitely down with the Corn and WILL be signing in November. uneblinstu Posted August 14, 2013 Report Posted August 14, 2013 Moved the conversation after he committed from the recruiting board to the main board. Quote
nebrasketball10 Posted August 14, 2013 Report Posted August 14, 2013 Why was this moved? He hasn't signed an LOI... Isn't the recruiting forum for players who haven't signed an LOI? Quote
