Yes, I'm that guy. I just did the unthinkable and started yet another Tai thread. Here are my questions now that he's here but not cleared.

So he's not through the NCAA clearinghouse. What does that mean? Is he locked up in his dorm room and only released for class? Can he accidentally shoot a basketball at Hendricks and then have a few friends show up? What if a pickup game breaks out? Can a coach watch? Can Tai stumble into the weight room and work out? Can he do this to a prescribed program given by training staff?

What is he allowed to do? Is it just that he can't compete as a freshman in games until he is cleared? Some people have speculated that Tai must be close to being cleared or that Miles believes it will be done soon, and that's why he brought him over here now and has him starting class. I don't know the rules but my thoughts are if you get him over here taking class and meeting his potential future teammates, the better the chances of keeping him should prep school or something else transpire. And why wouldn't you bring him over if he can work out/practice with the team despite not being cleared? But that is my question. What can he do under his current status?

Perhaps you should send your questions to Coach Miles or the basketball office and see if you get a reply? What is the worst that can happen?

You're right. Nothing bad would happen. I'll try that in the morning. I just didnt know if anyone on here would have any insight. I know all college athletes have to go through the clearinghouse prior to their freshman year. Thought we might have an athlete of two on here. I'm not one.

My guess is that he can do just about anything except participate in the now-legal off-season practices run by a coach.

Heck, I can remember happening to find myself at Devaney for various reasons during summers past and finding members of the hoops team involved in pick-up games with even some of the football players.  Mo Purify, for instance, was a regular at the summer pick-up games.

I could be wrong but I cannot fathom that the NCAA would have any authority to prohibit with whom players can play pick-up games during the summer.  And, if I'm right about that, you can darn well bet that Tai is becoming very well acquainted with his new (future) teammates.

So I've come to find out that the NCAA clearinghouse is a separate entity that just does academic eligibility of student athletes for the NCAA. The clearinghouse is not the NCAA. So everyone's gripes about the NCAA and how they don't make any sense and how they take forever with these decisions...it might not actually be the NCAAs problem. Now I know the NCAA has a lot of issues, but this clearinghouse thing may not be one of them. It is still entirely possible, however, the the NCAA gets word one way or the other from the clearinghouse and then just sits on the info.

This one is funny...

Yeah, Nebraska fans are gonna need to realize that New Zealand and Australia are definitely NOT the same (even though the accents may sound similar to us).
