Here is an different perspective from yahoo sports

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaab-the-dagger/nebraska-lures-kenya-hunter-georgetown-reinforcing-newfound-commitment-190650374.html

As to whether Hunter was forced out...

"Georgetown coach John Thompson III did not want to lose Hunter after fellow assistant Mike Brennan had already left earlier this spring to become the head coach at American University. Thompson hired Northwestern assistant Tavares Hardy to replace Brennan and tabbed Kevin Sutton to replace Hunter, with the caveat that Sutton would become director of basketball operations if Hunter decided to stay.

"People thought I got forced out or whatever, but that's not true," Hunter said. "Coach Thompson knew when I went on my visit to Nebraska last week that there was probably a great chance of me leaving, so it was a case of him being proactive and making sure he was covered if I was to leave. I think it's win-win. My experience as a coach and recruiter can help Nebraska and Georgetown is getting two guys who will continue the success they've had."

By they way, when Nebrasketballer talks about recruiting ties to the DMV, he's not talking about the place where you get your driver's license.  He's talking about D.C., Maryland and Virginia.  :)

To me the DMV was in reference to DelMarVa. Delaware Maryland Virgina.

No, it was definately DC.  I follow a couple of DC sports teams, they all use it in terms of DC, Maryland and VA and with Georgetown being in DC...

They may use it over there too, but Delaware and Virginia don't actually come in contact.

Well tell that to my brother who lives in Delaware. There is an area that they call delmarva it borders Delaware to  Maryland and Virgina to Maryland Thus DelMarVa. My Brother has lived in Delaware since 1966. There is a peninsula that is called DELMARVA and all three States occupy it.

I still don't believe this is actually happening to Husker basketball.

Yes you do, nustudent.  I remember the day Miles was hired.  You and I were very excited about the new hire. (We weren't alone, but we didn't have a lot of company, either.)  I posted happy, upbeat music videos celebrating the change in head coaches.  Others on this board posted somber music videos to reflect their feelings about the new coach.

Yep.  It's a good time to be a Husker basketball fan.  :)

Cip, you must not remember the day Miles was hired as well as you think you do.  Because you started your "happy" video thread on March 9.  That's actually not the day Miles was hired.  Actually, that's the same day Doc Sadler was fired.  Kind of a different thing, actually.  Not the same.  But close.  In a dissimilar sort of way.

But, don't take my word for it.  Here's a link:  http://huskerhoopscentral.activeboard.com/t48203626/the-happy-thread/

(Give you credit, though, at least it was a sort of basketball-related post.)

I believe nustudent's initial reaction was "meh"   :D

To his credit, he warmed pretty quickly...but it wasn't all hearts and rainbows in the Devaney Dungeon at first...

Yep, cip remembers very, very well the day Miles was hired.  It was a sunny day in November.  The Giants had just won the penant and Lance Armstrong was just finishing up his 5th Tour de France victory.  Cip specifically remembers he and nustudent were both very excited about the hire.  Feeling in a celebratory mood, Cip opened a jar of his favorite salsa (or maybe it was a jar of mushrooms) and began posting happy music videos on the internet.  Just because.  About then, the white knight started talking backwards and the red queen's off with her head ...

Boy, did I ever misremember that period.  Thanks for going to the trouble to set the record straight, Norm.  I guess I should just stick to smart ass comments.  One thing I've learned in life, though, is to not take myself too seriously.

cip, did you catch Kenya on Sports Nightly tonight?

Doc had his catchphrase, "Again"

Miles has "No doubt about it"

I think Kenya's catchphrase is gonna be "At the end of the day"

And it's up to me to flip you crap about it, knowing you'd do me the same favor if the tables were turned.   ;)

Besides, I thought I set you up pretty well for a White Rabbit video.

The neighbors are starting to take notice:  http://tigerboard.com/boards/missouri-tigers.php?message=10822806

If you read the posts it's the same sterotypical crap we true Husker BB have to listen to.

Kind of like how they are in football. Been good about once in a 100 years and they think they have arrived.

I love their resident basketball "expert" over there, FIJItiger...someone who spends a few minutes on Google and then writes a post with some extremely mundane factual nugget in there to make him sound knowledgable...

Maybe things have changed in the last year or so

but when they were in the Big 12 with us, I don't think we ever had a Nebraska poster make a single post on the basketball board. I would venture a guess that 90% of NU fans couldn't tell you who Venson Hamilton is, much less Dave Hoppen. They seem like they care less about basketball than ku does about football.

...way to go, you looked up Nebraska Basketball on wikipedia. Congratulations.  Would you like a cookie now?

gee, I feel like a dork. I was about to rec those empty posts for being sort of HHC avant garde-y. Maybe I should just go back and rec them anyway. I've always wanted a thread where we post about absolutely nothing, and that would qualify.
